Google Maps and Navigation not working. Please Help

Hi,

The Google Maps on my phone and navigation are not working. Specifically the 'find my location' feature doesnt work properly on Maps and Navigation is always stuck at waiting for location. Yesterday I was in a car and checked the GPS status with an app called GPS test. It showed about 6 satellites with an SNR in the yellow colour range. When I started navigation, it could never find my location whereas my friend's Motorola Milestone hardly took any time. I tried resetting the GPS cache with GPS Status but that hasnt helped. Could someone please help me out? I using modaco's android 2.3 rom.

There is no Modaco 2.3 rom...i assume you meant 2.2?

One trick you could try would be leaving it outside in the garden for 20-30 minutes. This will allow it to get a good lock and update the gps almanac with the latest data.

This should speed up getting a fix, at least for a few days.

Also check if you have A-GPS enabled, as this basically does the same thing, updating the gps database to allow a quicker fix.

GPS Data is a great little app, make sure you have "auto-download AGPS data" set to "1 day" or similar.
