wake lock standard email app

The android vanilla email app keeps syncing my contacts and calendar from my exchange account.

I tried replacing the email app with an other version (2.3.3 from CM7) but that app is invisible; I pushed the apk with adb to /system.

Anyone else have this problem and knows of a solution?
