My OSF is beyond repair I had the call from the insurance company today......They dont stock this phone so I have accepted their offer of an HTC Wildfire.

I get the feeling that its just not going to be as good as the san fran, Has anyone else made the jump? or maybe has both?

I wanted to say a big thankyou to all of that have helped me here in some way.

I will still return to help others in the best way possible so I will not be running away for long.......

Once again thanks all!

What a Shame :-( The HTC Wildfire has a slower processor than the Blade 533MHz - Wildfire 600MHz-Blade.

Android 2.1 with HTC Sense

It does have Cyanogen Mod 7 available, No way would I take a Wildfire they are very unreliable even though the Blade is not the best for reliability, I haven’t had any problems with mine.

You should still stay and helping people in the Blade Category

Good Luck.

My last phone was a Wildfire. Build quality is superb and the 5mp camera with flash is decent. Unfortunately the screen is crap and it has no gpu, so dont expect to be playing any 3d games. Keep your fingers crossed it comes with 2.1 installed, as the 2.2 update came with a bootloader that seems unhackable so it cant be rooted. Good news is CM7 is perfectly stable on it.

I could safely overclock mine to 729mhz. I highly recommend cm7 for it. But like I sait you wont be able to do any of this if it has stock 2.2 installed

Selling it and buying a new blade or what ever phone is always an option. You would get a fair amount for a brand new wildfire!

wildfire isn't a bad phone. just the screen isn't so good. a desire would have been a better swap.

Mmmmm

Shoulda tried to compare like with like. You want an android phone capable of doing the same tasks as your SF (Thats the wildfire out)

If they try to offer you a small screened phone say that it wouldn't be fit for purpose, you have bad eye-sight and fat fingers

Needless to say I wouldn't have settled for anything less than a Desire! Plus the fact they have probably already valued your phone @ over £200 (Yeah my original pulse was apparently made of gold when I tried to cancel the sneaky insurance I didn't even want)

It's not an entirely bad thing - the Wildfire has a street price of £140, so selling it BNIB on eBay or Gumtree should yeild you enough to buy another San Fran with enough left over to cover a taxi to town and back, and then you can be saved from the abject horror that is the Wildfire's screen.

Future reference though, study your insurance terms before accepting any sort of offer. The reason I say this is, did your insurance offer similar value, or similar spec or capabilities? The Wildfire is closest by value, but in terms of spec and abilities, the Desire is a far closer match on all of the key criteria. But hey ho.
