Guest rapidone Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 (edited) Hello everybody, I have a 1st gen SF TFT (UK) and I'm using CM7 Nightly 38. When I boot my phone the touch screen works perfectly. Then after clicking around or play, it starts to produce errors. 1) It doesn't point to the right point. -> You can touch in the middle of the screen and it points to the top of the screen 2) It completeley freezes / stops to work After some seconds 15-30 everything is fine again. Any hint what I should do to fix it? EDIT 1: N36 was no help for me. It's even getting worser as I got totally touch screen freezes at lockoff screen. No fun to take off the battery all the time. :) EDIT 2: Maybe I restored something from 2.2 (Fou-lus hint). I wiped(factory reset phone), cleared cache and dalvik cache and installed CM7 stable. Still the freeze issue :) EDIT 3: I installed CM7 special touchscreen kernel Touchscreen fix No freeze for 10 minutes.... but again problems.... :) EDIT 4: I downgraded to RC4. It was better, but the probs came back EDIT 5: Switched to Swedish Spring RLS5 (factory reset, cache and dalvik cache reset). It worked fine for some days. But freezes came back... Guest rapidone Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 "Downgrade" to N36, that's the last nightly I found to be stable and non-freezing. Thanks for the hint.. I downgraded. The issue is not completely solved but a lot better.
Guest isambard Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Does pressing the power button to turn off screen and then back again un-freeze it? Also, on the other touchscreen freeze thread, somebody posted a patched CM7 kernel. You could see if that fixes it...

I rebooted the phone again. At the moment it works. Hope that it's fixed now. I'm thinking of switching back to FROYO again. Do you think that'll help?
Guest Rotmann Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 If you get alternative freezes it may be your digitizer. Flash a 2.1 or a 2.2 and look, if you still have the problem it's the digitizer, the most common blade failure as it's badly designed and placed.

I downgraded to CM7 RC4 and don't have touch screen problems any more. So something in the new ROMs was changed that causes problems on my phone.

But a lot of people have severe probs after doing that.
Guest heavyduty00 Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 I think if you reboot phone, and leave it for 5-10 minutes to load everything properly, touchscreen freezes will go? Not sure if it works for everyone though, and i am on cm7 stable but helps me, as when i instantly use my phone after a reboot, the touchscreen fails and I have some immense lag.
Guest ThrashMan Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 I had the touch screen reporting my finger location incorrectly this morning. After much messing about I dismantled the phone and reseated the LCD screen. May have been a dodgy contact but all seems ok now.
