Guest snowwiddow Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 Hi! I would like to connect my Blade with an intercom on my bike (for example taking a call, auto answer is realised with talker). In my helmet are built in speakers for left/right and a microphone so thats not the problem. The phone connector on the intercom is: 3.5 mm jack plugin Tip - Audio out to phone (1I) Middle - Audio input to intercom (2I) Base - Ground (0 V) (3I) As I know from wiki, the headset connector on the phone is: 3.5 mm jack plugin Pinout from Tip to Base: Left Speaker (1P) - Right Speaker (2P) - Mic (3P) - Ground (4P) My question: Can I do the simple connections: - 1P to 1I - 2P to 1I - 3P to 2I - 4P to 3I or in another expression: - Left and right phone speaker output of phone together to audio output of intercom - Microfone out of phone to audio input of intercom - Ground to ground Thanks and it will work?
Guest Swimmerboy Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 (edited) I'd think so (it'd just appear on the phone as a wired headset) but you may need to buy an adapter (if one exists) or make one up yourself if you're handy with a crimper or soldering iron. Maplin is normally a good source of connectors. Edited April 12, 2011 by Swimmerboy

If not see if you can sort out a bluetooth connection, I intend doing this as I also want to use the phone on a mount for GPS navigation on my bike as well.

Yes a bluetooth connection would be another possibility but a) the headset is a wired one :) a bluetooth connection cannot feed the intercom which i need (sometimes) for c) talking with my wife d) at the moment i can use the intercom with a separate stereo mp3 player. But as described above the ultimate solution is having music by the player, gps navigation on the phone and the possibility of making calls via voice dialing during a ride. I hope the self-made adapter cable with the pinout will work....
Guest agreenjesus Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 One of the great things about bikes is not having to talk to anyone. Getting jabbed in the ribs is adequate communication for me in most circumstances. Maplin have some clearance two way radios designed for bikes at the moment, they might be useful if you can find a branch that still has stock.
