Guest Swimmerboy Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 Hi everyone i am currently on FLB-Froyo G2 r10b and want to update to CM7 Stable is it worth doing and if so should i follow the instuctructions from this youtube video. There isn't anyone but you that can answer of the question of when/what to upgrade your phone to. Make a choice and see how it turns out - if you don't like it you can restore from Backup. There's instructions on the CM7 post, but in essence you need to:Boot into recoveryPerform a nandroid backupDo a full wipeFlash CM7 zipFlash Gapp zipReboot into CM7 I'm running it a the moment (and the nightlies before that) and don't have an isse with the 'stable' version at all. Bear in mind you'll loose the ability for FM radio (for now)
Guest Superfuzz Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 (edited) Think i might wait a little longer. It's totally worth it to try it. Especially since FLB is not so good as CM7/Swedish Spring. Edited April 12, 2011 by Superfuzz
Guest rwalton159 Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 It's totally worth it to try it. Especially since FLB is not so good as CM7/Swedish Spring. Why? I'm using JJ RLS3b and Co Pilot and everything else works spot on why would I upgrade? Thanks Richard
Guest Superfuzz Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 Why? I'm using JJ RLS3b and Co Pilot and everything else works spot on why would I upgrade? Thanks Richard Well if your current ROM fits all your needs you doesn't *need* to change it. But if you want a better experience etc. there are newer roms you could try.

Thanks Richard i'm not guna list all the ways cm7 is better. but, SS RLS3 was my last rom before cm7 and so i feel like i am justified to comment on cm7 being better just try it out for a few days and if you don't like it flash your SS nandroid. there's nothing to lose :) much to gain :)

Guest metal.mickey Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Can anyone tell me what issues are still outstanding onthe CM7 Rom. ive checked the page 1 of the Nightlies threads but the dont seem to be updated anymore. ta
Guest Willz Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 I can't see why you shouldn't. It's called a stable rom for a reason. I'm having no problems so far and really liking it, though I had zero problems with the beta either.
Guest metal.mickey Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 so there are no outstanding problems with the: radio proximity sensor gps
Guest Michealtbh Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 There is no FM radio yet, could hardly consider that a bug though. GPS and proximity sensor are fine
Guest themighysquitt Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 There is no FM radio yet, could hardly consider that a bug though. GPS and proximity sensor are fine I agree with you there mate both work fine for me. I'm thinking of making this my last ROM install (I've tried out many over the last few months). :)
Guest jayhix Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 i would say upgrade to RC4, the "stable" version is ironically less stable than RC4 or a couple of nightlies back from that. you only have to look at the nightly thread to see this :)
Guest Maz2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 I agree. I tried CM7 stable and quickly went back to RC4 as it has far fewer problems. None in fact, for my usage.
Guest metal.mickey Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 have you seen the length of that thread. ive just tried CM7 Update.zip and i cant mount the USB and ill be damned if im gonna trawl that for a fix. ive been reading another CM7 thread which suggested that some of the issues were Titanium Backup related and inherited and that the GPS is still iffy I think ill just wait till the final release
Guest Hellek2 Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 I only tried CM7 stable on my Orange Boston a bit which I now reverted to CM6.1.2 and made me decide to wait for CM7.1. In fact it was always the right decision for me to wait until Cyanogen X.1 (the second stable release). If your Blade is your main phone, stay with stuff like Swedish Spring RLS4 which works perfectly for me (although I loose data connection about 1-2 times per day, but I just have to disable/re-enable data via the power control widget to fix it, that is tolerable) If you play around, go to CM7. It should work okay, but be prepared to have a reboot once in a while or other small inconveniences. Usually the first stable release has some glitches, the second stable release of the same version is better. I always made that experience on my older phones already. The nightlies are basically development releases. The RCs are alpha versions (some might call them beta) The first stable (i.e. 7.0) is a beta to me. The second stable (i.e. 7.1) is usable for everyday use (to me). Expect a few weeks of wait between 7.0 and 7.1. Basically when X.0 comes out lots of people start using it. Only then do some important bugs get pointed out and fixed. X.1 really is stable then.
