Guest Markteacher Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 As the title says, when I connect the Transformer to my pc (win 7), it shows up as 'Transformer TF101 Portable Media Player' and shows the physical memory left on the internal 16gb memory. When I open it up it takes me to the device storage level which includes folders such as Android and DCIM, but my removable sdcard is on the next file level UP, and there is no way I can access it. Can anyone else access their sdcard, and if so, what incredibly basic thing am I doing wrong? Any help appreciated.

Because the Transformer (ans Xoom) use Media Transfer Protocol rather than USB Mass Storage Protocol things get a tad odd and in this case I do see my MicroSD card but it actually appears as a Sub-Folder called "MicroSD" under the main "Transformer TF101 Portable Media Player" folder. Caught me out for a while myself until I spotted it and this also means (as far as I can tell) you can't tell how much space is left of the storage card, just on the main memory. I do understand my Google have gone for MTP rather than USB Mass Storage (for a start both the PC and Tablet can access the card at the same time so fewer problems with apps moved to SD Card) but it does have a few drawbacks. Nope, definitely no MicroSD folder there for me, and I cant figure out how to jump back a file level to the level which shows (amongst others) 'proc', 'root', 'sdcard', 'sys' and 'removable' - the one I want to access. Anyone got any other ideas?

It's a long shot but have you tried installing the Asus USB driver from here http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLan...p;p=20&s=16

Thanks for the screen shot matchstick, it does help when you know what you are looking for :) Waited until the transformer was connected to the pc, removed and then reinserted the sd card and hey-prest, my sdcard folder appeared. Isnt new technology wonderful! Unfortunately, now I have this one working, I will probably have to do the same thing again when I get my replacement. I decided there was just too much light bleed around the edges of the screen and have asked for a replacement from Comet - though when I wil receive it could be anyones guess. Sounded on the phone today like stock was a little limited.
