Guest onourway Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 I seem to be getting very poor battery life from my OSF. I took my phone off charge at 9:30am and without using it all (locked in my pocket since), it is now down to 63% battery life 3.5 hours later. I have WiFi set to on (not in wifi area), GPRS/3G data is off. I tried the battery recalibration thing the other day and it seemed to improve a lot (circa 3-4% useage per hour) - but it has now gone back to form. Any ideas?

Discussed many times before - check there are no runaway processes using all the CPU time, and check that the dialer isn't keeping the phone from sleeping.

Thanks, how would I do that (the runaway processes thing)? I'm running jellyfish 9 or something like that if I remember right!

Cell Standby is 67% in my battery stats Wifi 21% Phone Idle 19% Display 2% So the main problem seems to be Cell Standby, any ideas how I fix this?

Guest Len Ash Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Use juice defender, or Green Power (for Gingerbread) to reduce power consumption. Er - better to find the CAUSE of the problem than stick a plaster over it. As stated, loads of dialogue, good and bad, on this topic.

Whoops, I've installed it already, am I best off removing it? It says my phone is out of network 37% of the time, which is what is causing the cell standby thing, probably borderline coverage at work? If so, is there any way I can fix this?
Guest Spies Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Have you got spareparts installed? Check that under wakelock, cell standby might not be anything to worry about, it's going to use the radio whether its in coverage or not.

Guest ricer Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Turn off GSM/WCDMA Auto mode and put it on GSM only mode. This will save you a lot of battery especially in poor reception areas.

Thanks, I've installed the juice defender, it seems to have improved it, do you think that might do that for you or something? I'll see how it goes then disable it and try your suggestion, thanks.
Guest Casterina Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Reduce the brightness of your phone and deactivate wifi when your not using it.. Go on battery usage and see whats eating your battery away. Most of the time, its dsplay.. reduce the screen timeout.. this is will help increase your battery life alot! :)
Guest adnewall Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 I found that my main battery hog was twitter app, it had somehow malfunctioned and was constantly downloading something. Going from a max of around 8 hours battery life with very little use. I now get around 3 days, at the moment I'm 5 hours from unplugged and still 99% battery (wifi on, data off, sync on). With Spare Parts look under network usage too – your wifi may be being used and not letting the phone go into sleep.

This is using juice defender on standard mode. I'm going to try the GSM only think as it's still cell standby that is stealing all of my battery! Edited April 14, 2011 by onourway

If you are using 2.3 Gingerbread with your Blade, you could use the integrated task killer :) Hopefully, this will help you.
Guest john.smith Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 I think you should reflash your ROM, let it run clean for a few hours to observe any battery issue. Most likely to be ROM issue than hardware. I seem to be getting very poor battery life from my OSF. Guest Casterina Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 task killing wastes battery usually It saves battery :S All the apps you open, they are left in the background, they will consume battery. Killing them with a task killer would help you prevent this.. although, if you tend to multi-task with your phone, i wouldnt recommend this.

Guest hecatae Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Did you have any problems after you calibrated the battery with your app? no problems at all, battery is lasting 3 - 4 days
Guest Casterina Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 no problems at all, battery is lasting 3 - 4 days Woahh :):O:O Did you use your phone alot?
Guest onourway Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 My phone is working really well today, after 14 hours of being unplugged it is still on 87% charge. The only thing I've done different is to set it to airplane mode for about 2 seconds straight after I unplugged it this morning, could that make a difference?
