Guest dutch6 Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 Hi all My blade is running froyo (2.2) from custom ROM MCR r7 I find my phone to be sluggish and unresponsive all the time which I find very frustrating. Theres plenty of memory left and I am using advanced Task Killer to kill apps automatically every 2 hours. Is there a way to help it become more responsive, or is there another ROM I could try out? Thanks Dutch6

Yes, uninstall an app that will be hurting performance, specifically this one: I am using advanced Task Killer to kill apps automatically every 2 hours.

Guest Swimmerboy Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 I thought app killers were supposed to help performance by killing the running apps. Thanks for the advice Froyo and Gingerbread have excellent memory management, and will allow processes to remain in memory provided other things don't require it. This means that if I open the browser, then text messages I can go back to the browser instantly as it doesn't need to load anything. App killers leave you with a lot of 'free memory' which sounds good at first thought, but if it's free it's not actually doing anything for you: much better to have properly managed 'full memory'. A more readable write-up can be found here: Why you don't need App killers
Guest aequalszero Posted April 13, 2011 Report Posted April 13, 2011 That was true for 2.1, but the general advice is that 2.2 is internally efficient enough to manage its own memory. You're only adding extra processes by using an app killer.
