What you should have done was apply the 'patch' that allows CM7 to run on Gen2 devices like it described in the post. Why you'd format the recovery partition is a mystery to me.

Make sure you have the drivers installed to let you use fastboot (do a search of the forum) as I think getting fastboot to work is your only hope for now.

Not sure wether fastboot works on GEN2 or not.

If you couldn't get fastboot then you should probably go for TPT.

That definetely doesn't work on Gen2 (yet)

Just tried on mine - can't get it into fastboot with power and vol [+] or even power, vol [+] and menu held.

If you can't get it into fastboot then you may be left with a rather nice paperweight until we get a TPT from a Gen2 device.

Power on phone with vol- pressed and try to flash via flasher again.

Won't work. I think you're up the creek on this one unfortunately. The only ways to get a new ROM or Recovery onto the phone are:

  1. TPT (currently unavailable for gen2)
  2. Via the phone terminal (which you can't get to)
  3. Via CLockwork (which you can't get to)
  4. Via ADB (which needs clockwork or phone functionality)
  5. Fastboot (Which on gen2 requires a command be issued from ROM or ADB)

Can't see a way of getting this one fixed without sending it back to manufacturer for repair. There may be a TPT image in the future but it's not going to be soon I'd imagine.

I'd check the price first - you may be better off buying a new one and selling this one on ebay for parts

Hi jijijoujou1 - check kallt_kaffe's response to your other post

Fraid it doesn't look like a great outlook, but he suggests a piece of software that was posted on here a little while back

I forget the name of the fella who first posted about it, but I think he had some correspondence with hecatae - you might try pm'ing him

Go and read all the Gen2 threads before just installing anything. You cannot run Gen1 ROMs on a Gen2 phone. Without modification they are totally incompatible. There is a thread by kalt kaffe with a patch to modify CM7 to work on Gen2, and on the weekend CM7 Nightlies will support Gen2. Swedish Spring also supports Gen2.

If you want to install CM7, you can install it through clockworks and install patch straight-after, to make the ROM compatible. then you can restart the phone

maybe the gen2 conversions didn't set up your partitions properly. Have you tried doing it again? If you can get back into FTM mode then you can do a conversion to Gen2 again which should get everything working. If not, then I have the program that I think the soup theif was referring to, and you can use it without FTM mode, but I'd exhaust all other possibilities first because I don't know what it will do to your IMEI. did you keep channel1.nvm when you upgraded?

Also, how did you get clockwork working?

I assumed you used the flasher to flash Gen1 TPT files with clockwork on them?

In that case, mount the SD card to a computer in clockwork and put the restorestockrecovery.zip from the Gen2 Upgrade file. Flash that in clockwork and see if you can get into FTM Mode. once in FTM Mode, do Gen2 upgrade again.

a couple of devs been comparing channel1.nvm files to see where the imei is so a repair method can be implemented.
