Guest Myke Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Hey guys, I just want to let you know I'm new to the SPV comunity! I live in the US and I finally recieved my SPV phone from the UK. It is an AMAZING phone. All the phones out here are at LEAST 6 months behind the phones in europe. I beleive the SPV comes out in June here :) I love this phone! ;)
Guest lutzh Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Hi Myke, welcome on board - can you please explain me which features of the SPV, especially the phone features, you can use? Do you have SMS/GPRS/MMS and all that nice things we have here in europe? Cheers from a America friendly German... Lutz
Guest castlebrae Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Hi Myke, I will be going to the US shortly and I wonder if you could tell me what service provider you are using. I believe GPRS doesn't work in the US is that right?
Guest jmrodriguez Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 I am also in the US like Myke and I can use SMS and GPRS although MMS has not been introduced yet as a service here. :)
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Hi Myke, I will be going to the US shortly and I wonder if you could tell me what service provider you are using. I believe GPRS doesn't work in the US is that right? GPRS does work in America - you just have 2 switch your fone to triband settings and then fone up orange to get a list of foreign countrys that support gprs applicable to the service plan that you have :)
Guest castlebrae Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Does anyone have that list? The US is huge, so I imagine that it depends where you are in the US as top which provider you need to use, or....? I'll check it out with orange nearer the time, but it would be nice to know a bit in advance :)
Guest MaximilianWeisheit Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 I live in NEW YORK CITY I set up my SPV with T-MOBILE www.t-mobile.com the GSM provider in my area. You have to select PCS (which is the wrong name for the GSM 1900 system in the States, because PCS the the System SPRINT www.SPRINT.com uses and that has nothing to do with GSM) in the band selection screen. Well anyway I set up my GRPS internet, only a few ips and access points have to be changend and my WAP. I have little problem with setting up my MMS, but I think that is because of my phone. Well anyway Orange ensured me that problem will be solved with the new UK update, that should be out already or very soon for the public. here are the Guides GRPS (Internet) www.projectprostyle.com/%23%23%23UPLOAD_STUFF%23%23%23/SPV/SPV_-_creating_a_T_Mobile_US_GPRS_Internet_connection.pdf WAP www.projectprostyle.com/%23%23%23UPLOAD_STUFF%23%23%23/SPV/SPV_-_creating_a_T_Mobile_USA_GPRS_WAP_connection.pdf MMS www.projectprostyle.com/%23%23%23UPLOAD_STUFF%23%23%23/SPV/SPV_-_Setting_up_T_Mobile_USA_GPRS_MMS.pdf Let me know if it works out for you, Max
Guest MaximilianWeisheit Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 I am also in the US like Myke and I can use SMS and GPRS although MMS has not been introduced yet as a service here. :) T-Mobile DOES support MMS! I have a lot of friends with the Sony Erricson t 68i ir something like that, and they use it! also T-Mobile sells Picture phones for $99 dollars! thus It works. Maybe you have a diffrent service provider that does not support it yet!
Guest jmrodriguez Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 I was just reading your post and your instructions, I am with T-Mobile as well. I really haven't had the chance to play with the MMS settings but its good to hear that it will work. I will follow the instructions you posted and give it a try. :)
