What you think any good?

Would you upgrade from Blade to Slate

It's ment to be coming to UK at under £150 and under 200 EURO in europe

After the ZTE Blade (aka Orange San Francisco), ZTE is proving itself as a company offering top-end performance for entry-level money. Now they’ve added the ZTE Slate, with Android 2.3, to its range.

The new device, running the latest Android operating system revision, will be released in May 2011 and come with a 4.3-inch capacitive, multi-touch, display and 800MHz processor.

In addition, the phone has a graphics co-processor that makes it possible to drive the 800×480 pixel display with high quality graphics and video.

The ZTE Skate kicks off the ‘Light Your Smart World’ product strategy that consists of the Android-powered Amigo Slide, Blade (as the Orange branded San Francisco) and the F952 phone powered on Qualcomm’s BREW platform.

Key specifications

4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen with multi-touch

800MHz processor with Adreno 200 GPU

120g

Available from May 2011

I dont really see an upgrade from Blade to Skate, unless you need bigger screen.

When i saw a photo of it there looked like there could be a flash for the camera a there were two items on the back of the phone one camera lens the other was green in colour...

Yes its got gingerbread

It's not enough of an improvement. Maybe when ZTE makes something with an Adreno 205 (or better) and that's 1ghz+ or even dual core. The skate is way too similar to the blade.

If the Skate is cheap enough and can be unlocked easily then I will definitely be buying it.

I love big screens, 4.3" is nice, even if the number of pixels is the same.

Yes it is a 5mp camera and it DOES come with a flash. And speaking of flash of the adobe kind, this will also be supported, which the blade can't currently claim to do.

@TCTUK, what's your source? I've read that the Skate has a MSM7227-1 Turbo, which is ARM11. And that doesn't support flash.

Very true. Watching the video made me think it is of a similar ilk to the Desire and Galaxy S.

Apart from screen size, speed from 600Mhz to 800Mhz is the biggest difference, which enables you to play flash.

Gingerbread 2.3 is another difference, as well as 5mp camera which is minor/negligible.

With the change in ARM version and the jump to 800MHz I was expecting it to be reasonably fast. As it is I don't see a burning need to upgrade as I imagine flash video will be laggy given the performance in the video and all the other specs are similar (except camera which I don't use much anyway).
