Would you upgrade from Blade to Slate It's ment to be coming to UK at under £150 and under 200 EURO in europe After the ZTE Blade (aka Orange San Francisco), ZTE is proving itself as a company offering top-end performance for entry-level money. Now they’ve added the ZTE Slate, with Android 2.3, to its range. The new device, running the latest Android operating system revision, will be released in May 2011 and come with a 4.3-inch capacitive, multi-touch, display and 800MHz processor. In addition, the phone has a graphics co-processor that makes it possible to drive the 800×480 pixel display with high quality graphics and video. The ZTE Skate kicks off the ‘Light Your Smart World’ product strategy that consists of the Android-powered Amigo Slide, Blade (as the Orange branded San Francisco) and the F952 phone powered on Qualcomm’s BREW platform. Key specifications 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen with multi-touch 800MHz processor with Adreno 200 GPU 120g Available from May 2011
Guest ricer Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Not available in May now, its getting a summer release which is disappointing.
Guest Sebastian404 Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Is this the updated version of the V9/Light? I can never keep up

Guest DannyDanny Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 I dont really see an upgrade from Blade to Skate, unless you need bigger screen.
Guest Dj iCE Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 I dont really see an upgrade from Blade to Skate, unless you need bigger screen. ... and better build quality :-D
Guest Casterina Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Not available in May now, its getting a summer release which is disappointing. It was meant to release in February :|
Guest myfeetsmell Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 It does look better than the blade, bigger screen, better build quality plus better camera not sure if there will be a flash though. Plus arent they releasing it with gingerbread.

When i saw a photo of it there looked like there could be a flash for the camera a there were two items on the back of the phone one camera lens the other was green in colour... Yes its got gingerbread
Guest Roph Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 (edited) It's not enough of an improvement. Maybe when ZTE makes something with an Adreno 205 (or better) and that's 1ghz+ or even dual core. The skate is way too similar to the blade. Edited April 14, 2011 by Roph
Guest simonsays1 Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 If the Skate is cheap enough and can be unlocked easily then I will definitely be buying it. I love big screens, 4.3" is nice, even if the number of pixels is the same.

Plus arent they releasing it with gingerbread. Yes it is a 5mp camera and it DOES come with a flash. And speaking of flash of the adobe kind, this will also be supported, which the blade can't currently claim to do.

Guest Casterina Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 no that phone is going out for a normal price.under 200 euros.i´m gone get one when is out( here) BUT i´ll keep my blade also :) £180 - for its specs :) Its crazyyyy!!!
Guest Joost R Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 @TCTUK, what's your source? I've read that the Skate has a MSM7227-1 Turbo, which is ARM11. And that doesn't support flash.
Guest wbaw Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 (edited) £180 - for its specs :) Its crazyyyy!!! HTC Desires & Samsung Galaxy S aren't far from that price & they have much better specs :) Edited April 15, 2011 by wbaw
Guest MrsGeek Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 HTC Desires & Samsung Galaxy S aren't far from that price & they have much better specs :) Very true. Watching the video made me think it is of a similar ilk to the Desire and Galaxy S.
Guest ronc2000 Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 I dont really see an upgrade from Blade to Skate, unless you need bigger screen. Apart from screen size, speed from 600Mhz to 800Mhz is the biggest difference, which enables you to play flash. Gingerbread 2.3 is another difference, as well as 5mp camera which is minor/negligible.
Guest Casterina Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 HTC Desires & Samsung Galaxy S aren't far from that price & they have much better specs :) Hmmm trueeee :)
Guest Jai Cee Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 With the change in ARM version and the jump to 800MHz I was expecting it to be reasonably fast. As it is I don't see a burning need to upgrade as I imagine flash video will be laggy given the performance in the video and all the other specs are similar (except camera which I don't use much anyway).
