Guest BarryH Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 As a wildlife photographer I'd like to download a few of my favourite images to the Blade. Can anyone please advise the best way to do it, are there any special sizes I need to make the images, will it slow the phone down at all storing a few images? Apologies for all the questions.

Sticking them straight on the card is fine - the Gallery app scans the whole card for images, so you don't have to worry about putting them in the 'right' folder. The display size of the blade is 800x480. So if you're not looking to zoom in you could resize the photos to this resolution and not notice the difference. It won't slow the phone down at all (apart from when Gallery is loading the images of course!), just eat up space on your SD card.

I've got the phone connected to my PC but can't seem to be able to download any images. Don't really know how to make sure they're going onto the SD card or should it do that automatically?

When you connect it up there should be a notification on the status bar saying 'USB connected' - tap on that. This should then bring up a screen that lets you 'turn on' the usb storage feature that lets the computer see the memory card. Once you've done this you should see a new Removable Drive under 'My Computer' (if using Windows) and you can drag and drop files between your computer and memory card. Once done, go back to the phone and turn off USB Storage otherwise the phone won't be able to 'see' the card. Open Gallery and the photos should pop up after a couple of seconds.
Guest Roph Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 A method that I use if I just want to be able to get a file or two on my blade quickly is to use dropbox. I just save the image (or apk, rom etc) to my dropbox folder on my pc, and then open dropbox on the phone and there it is. Recommended only over wifi of course. :)

Guest BarryH Posted April 14, 2011 Report Posted April 14, 2011 Thanks for all the help, much appreciated. All I have to do now is find a way of seperating the landscape and portrait format images so I don't keep having to turn the phone on its side and back again. I'll try and do it before I download to the Blade as I doubt it can be done on there.
Guest BarryH Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 I'm still having problems getting the images I've downloaded to show in the order I want them. Some vertical images (Portrait) are mixed in with the horizontal (Landscape) images. This means the phone needs to be rotated to see them at their full size. I tried putting them in order on the PC and then downloading but they were still mixed up on the Blade. Any help or advice please?

Why not set up two folders wherever you store the pictures, use one for portrait and one for landscape? Was just a thought :)
Guest wakaru Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Rotating the images in your computer, to ensure they are facing the right way, before transfering them to the phone should work too.

Rotating the images in your computer, to ensure they are facing the right way, before transfering them to the phone should work too. Or rotate them on the phone (Menu > More > Rotate left/right) You have to do it otherwise if you flip your phone then it will auto-rotate so it will always be sideways :) You can also do it in bulk. Using the 3d gallery app long press to select each photo then flip them all, simple :)

I believe that the images will be displayed in first numerical then alphabetical order on the blade. If you had the time to rename all of your photos 1a, 1b, 1c, 2a, 2b, 2c etc then this way you could have them in the order you wanted. :)
Guest BarryH Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 Thanks again to everyone for all the help. The nearest I've come to some kind of order is to rotate the landscape images on the PC before downloading. Sequencing the images with numbers didn't change the order at all, the images all changed order on the download. At the moment I've turned the automatic screen orientation off, this has helped a bit. Thanks again.
