hi, iv had my orange san francisco for a few days and already got into the swing of things, installed boot recorvery, gone from eclair to froyo and now to ginger but all my apps were installed in froyo and transfered to SD, i was wondering if there is a simple way to make all my apps useable in any firmware or do i have to re-install the whole lot again. (i have backups of each firmware on recovery menu)

thanks for your time and sorry if this is a dupe post as i couldent find an answer.

If you've got the .apk's of the SDcard then you can install them fine, if you've used APPS2SD I Don't think so but if you used The Android Move To SD in the app menu in settings or something similar Then No.

thanks for the fast reply. Yeah i used app2sd. i wasn't sure if there was some kind of program that would make them useable on any ROM.

Where exactly do they store too on the SD i didnt make a new partition for them but i cant seem to find the app data anywhere. i'd like to delete all the APPS2SD data without deleting something i need lol.

thanks again

I THINK that it deletes the app data on wipe data / factory reset for you, so you don't need to do it.

it can't do as i just did a wipe data / factory when i was testing out a rom and when i did a restore to my 2.2 all apps were still there. They are all on the SD because when i removed the SD all the apps vanished.

something must be using up my SD card as iv got over 5gb used and iv only got 2 backups on there

thanks again

I'd recommend http://www.diskspacefan.com/ to tell you what's using the space up on your phone. I Use it for my phone and computer. It's for windows and it has a simple UI

i'll give that a go and report back.

Thanks again

thats what it gave me. Still no clear indication of where the apps are being installed too though.

Nice Set Up And Wallpaper! What's The Ubuntu folder on the Sdcard? It's saying you've only used 3.25GB, Your apps are either in .androidsecure OR appplanet

What about Titanium Backup its on Android Market!

Titanium Isn't great unless you have the paid version.

I use Mybackup Root and that works amazingly - way better than titanium.
