Can anyone recommend an email agent that will allow two accounts: gmail and hotmail? If one exists is it safe to then delete the gmail app from the standard JJLS9 ROM or should I just remove it from the launcher?

Whatever happens, you can get gmail off the market.

Can't say I recommend any other clients: I only use gmail.

Hotmail don't support POP3 Or IMAP so your kinda stuck.

But you can route all your Hotmail email via gmail

@OP im not specifically sure how but im like 99% sure it can be done, I know I have my hotmail linked too my gmail it just isnt set to send the email through

Yes. But i expect he'll want to send mail via hotmail as well so routing it through gmail would work for recieving but not sending

I have a Gmail account but also use Improved Mail for receiving and sending Hotmail using push settings, although I think the stock app may work equally as well.
