Guest Nandroid Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 Hi All, I've done the search thing but can't find the answer. If you know where it is please direct me. When I download a ROM and install it, all the icons are in Spanish. I can change the language in the ROM but it doesn't change the language under the icons. I live in Spain so maybe it's an IP addy detector or somethoing that's doing it. Is there a way I can download ROMs in English? Thanks in anticipation.
Guest Rbaroinz Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 I think that you can simple change the languange in Options. Definicoes -> Idioma y teclado -> seleccionar idioma -> English

Definicoes -> Idioma y teclado -> seleccionar idioma -> English Yeah, but that just changes the language used for texts and the like. It doesn't seem to change the writing under the app icons etc.

Guest Nandroid Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 Interesting! It seems to be a SIM card thing. When I do it with a Spanish SIM in it makes the ROM Spanish. Just tried it with an English SIM... The ROM is now in English. Is there a way around this? I don't want to have to find an English SIM card when I want to try a new ROM.

Step 1) Nandroid backup (from clockworkmod) with English sim card Step 2)Turn phone off, insert spanish sim card. Step 3) Restore the backup.
Guest Ralph Martin Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 I had this problem after flashing a ROM in China while using a Chinese SIM card. I think the very first thing that comes up when you start the phone after flashing the ROM is "Do you want to change your language?" from the default one indicated by the SIM. If you try reflashing the ROM, maybe you can figure out how to change the language right at the start.
Guest Nandroid Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 Forgive me if I am wrong.... Yeah but, that's the same as flashing the ROM with an English SIM card. What I was hoping for was to be able to flash the ROM in English with my Spanish SIM in the phone. I won't always be able to get my hands on an English SIM card. When flashing the ROM, I don't see any option to select the language. If this isn't doable, then that's the way it is. I just thought there might be something simple to get the ROM to mount in English.
