Guest shaney2k Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Hi about 2 weeks i left my phone at the gym and someone took it since when I went back it had gone. I rang my carrier at the time Tesco Mobile to get them to block it. Then started up at cheap virgin mobile contract with a free phone to keep me going. Got a phone call this morning from the gym saying it had been handed in, I rang tesco to let them know but they said that they would need to send me another sim card since when they blocked the phone they block the phone for them to be able to unblock it. Thought I would give Virgin a call to see if they could unblock it if I inserted that sim card in they could see it and unblock. However after giving them the IMEI they said that it wasnt blocked yet for some reason I cannot make calls or send texts but there is a 3g data signal? Is there anyway I can unblock it myself through recovery or am going to have to grab another tesco sim card and keep my fingers crossed they can unblock it? Many thanks
Guest DannyDanny Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Well we cant do much if your network provider says that they cannot unblock your simcard. Simcard is stopped from the network.

Many thanks Does the sim have incoming access? Can you ring the phone from another handset and it receives calls but doesn't make them? I say this as I changed my PAYG sim the other day from a 2G to 3G Orange sim and although I was supposed to wait for an sms message to activate the new sim it never came... I also had an active data signal but nothing worked. I put credit on and its been fine ever since (apart from the same message about t-mobile networks 6 times!).

It will not receive incomming calls either, gave Tesco another call whilst having the Virgin Sim Card Inputted. They said that they could now see the restrictions on it and have raised all bars on it. She said it would take around 20 minutes to come into effect but no joy as of yet. I can remember the guy originally saying it would take up to 24 hours for the phone to be fully blocked so will just wait out till tomorrow morning now I guess. Thanks
Guest psidoc Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Questions: 1: Was your phone an Orange San Fran. 2: Did you inform Tesco of the IMEI number of the SanFran? If it was a san fran and you didn't inform Tesco of the IMEI then no the phone isn't blocked as they didn't have the IMEI to block it. Psi
