Guest unrandomsam Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 This is the kernel from the latest softbank 2.2 rom. fixed up to work with the SS initramfs (all I have done is extract the kernel and initramfs from both - unlzma the initramfs and put it back together with mkbootimg) flash it with fastboot http://box.h-3.org.uk/boot.img
Guest hecatae Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 and from terminal emulator: su cd sdcard flash_image boot boot.img
Guest Shadow_2k Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Confirmed working, also speeds up Fruit Ninja quite a bit. Thanks for putting this together. :)

Guest domdom43 Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Can you compile a version for Gen1 phones?
Guest leromarinvit Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Can you compile a version for Gen1 phones? I don't think so. The OP just extracted the binary from the Softbank update. Would be interesting to know what ZTE changed though.

Guest Simon O Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 config.zip attached config.gz zipped up in a .zip if it might help Thanks. It will help a little but ideally we need newer kernel source from ZTE too.
Guest shmizan Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 hi. noob here. I'll be getting my SF in Friday. it will be my first Android phone. I plan on putting SS (Swedish Spring), and Angry Birds will be a very important ingredient :) will this be something safe for me to mess with? or should I wait until it's incorporated with Swedish Spring or one ROM or another?

Guest shmizan Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Read the stickies at the first page. I've read them about 15 times now. I was asking if THIS specific kernel flash is something safe for me to mess with? or should I wait until it's incorporated with Swedish Spring?

Guest ahngau Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 Thanks OP. Warning: the kernel does not support ext4. If you are using ext4, you have to backup, reformat to ext3, copy back the content, then use "a2sd reinstall".

Guest ahngau Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 no overclock either Oh yes, let's patiently wait for the ZTE source then. Hope they come to their senses and realize one of the reasons that the Blade is so popular is the strong community following.

Guest domdom43 Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 did someone made a benchmark old kernel VS new kernel with quadrant for exemple?
Guest mELIANTE Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 i think a mass polite email is in order Yeah, ZTE are a little too much neglectful about the sources...
Guest fradleyp Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 thanks, now my GPS doesn't work any ideas?
Guest iKrautDroid Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Yeah, ZTE are a little too much neglectful about the sources... You think ZTE is bad? Look at huawei!

It's not about the community following, it's a legal requirement for using a modified Linux kernel. Edited April 20, 2011 by wbaw
Guest magillos Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 I can't see much difference. Angry birds are still far from being smooth with this kernel.
