Small section of touchscreen has become unresponsive

Hi. Newbie here, sorry first post is about a problem!

My touchscreen became unresponsive but only in a specific area, meaning when composing texts (for example) certain letters (b,h,u) cannot be selected (in portrait view).

Works ok when flip to landscape but there are certain apps I have where this isn't possible and it is very frustrating.

All other touchscreen issues I can find in the forum are to do with completely unresponsive screens after flashing - I had flashed to JJ9 a few weeks before this occurred, and CM7 yesterday to see if a new ROM would help - but it didn't

I have a GEN1 OLED model and have flashed back to original orange stock ROM. Any suggestions before I return it?

Try this Multi touch test app.

What happens when you go over the "unresponsive" area? Does the dot disappear? or does it stay behind the area, and then jump past it as you move over it?

It jumps past it and changes from green 'Move' to grey 'Up' as it does so.
