Guest Fire Ant Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 After a while googling I couldn't find the Vega dock pinout. Then, I decided to have a look inside Vega and see if can find any clue, a standard IC or board. A bit disappointed, it remains a mystery. If we could get a USB port out of the dock port we wouldn't need to toggle the first USB port between the two modes. If you have the docking station, you can help. You don't need even to open it, just using a multimeter can find which four pins are gone to the USB port. I took a few photos, in case you're curious: The motherboard and the docking board: By the way, on the docking port is made by FOXCONN (can see in the 3rd photo), a Chinese company, when opening their products page, google warns you "www.foxconn.com contains malware".

The docking connector is a PDMI interface. Pinout can be found on Wikipedia.
Guest stufq Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 The docking connector is a PDMI interface. Pinout can be found on Wikipedia. I have made a quick search and two interesting webiste: http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/08/dell-st...r-mini-usb.html http://www.linuxslate.com/ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=763767 In the end is someone can confirm that it is a PDMI interface we can find a way to have a second usb :) Or even as some people here plan to put 3G modem inside the case! I would be nice to know what else on board as few connectors seemed unpopulated but is a question first on knowing what is what and what can be done (internal 3G,gps :) Cheers

Paul had tried the Streak cable, if you search in this forum can find the thread. But apparently he couldn't get the USB port working. And I haven't seen any one confirming they've managed to get the USB port out of it.
Guest Fire Ant Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 (edited) The docking connector is a PDMI interface. Pinout can be found on Wikipedia. Thanks for the reply. I'd seen some say so. But I couldn't find anyone confirming this, i.e. getting the USB port out of it. I removed the metal frame of the port to make it easier soldering some wires. Well it seems at least the pins confirm the port at least is PDMI compatible, the ground pins are the longer ones: I can confirm in the upper row the first pin from left is pin 1, and then in the lower row the first pin from left is pin 2. On Sunday I'll have time to solder the wires and see if can get the USB port working. But I've got a question, what should do I do with the OTG pin? should I ground it?
