I see that paul has released a new app called "easy freezy" Has anyone used it yet?

What exactly will happen to a "frozen" app?

Will it mean that if i freeze google maps that it will not use up my battery until i unfreeze it? and is it simply a case of pressing a button to freeze/unfreeze an app or will a restart be required?

easy freezy

cheers

I assume it'll do the same thing as Titaniums freeze option? Personally I'd use Autostarts to control Google Maps. Works for me. :)

I get "Packagemanager command failed!" on any app (system or user) that I tried to freeze. ROM - "Modaco Custom ROM for ZTE R12"

I don't get what the point of EasyFreezy is :?

The Market description is a little lacking in substance.

Are you clicking the 'more' button? There's a very detailed description of what it does and why...

It "freezes" an app, like disables it so that if you want to remove an app you can test it's removal so that you dont corrupt your system. The option is in Titanium Backup

lol....yeah I read all the description. What I think is missing is a clear explanation as to why you would want to install an app and then make it unavailable? Sounds like a waste of phone storage to me (the unusable app, not EasyFreezy  )

Would uninstalling an app ever destabilise the OS? That would be a bad app or a pretty flaky package management system?

I've used freeze in titanium to disable apps whilst testing alternatives. Just the other night I disabled SMS Popup to try out Go and handcent and Chomp - before returning to SMS Popup with all my settings intact.

And as the market description explains it's a safer alternative to removing system apps than removing them - and system apps aren't wasting usable space.

I uninstall a ton of apps every rom I put on - and you could easily destroy your OS. Nothing stops you uninstalling market, your dialer, your launcher, your browser and many other things. In fact I have personally uninstalled my keyboard in the past and obviously been unable to search for another one in the market - much to my friends amusement! :)

There's a HUGE thread in the main forum (not this rom sub forum) related to removing the orange bloatware for those that don't want a custom rom. I ran my phone like that for 2 or 3 months before braving my first custom rom!

This feature has its uses. Though I'd use the free option in Titanium - but I'm prepared to bet this has an easier to grasp UI than Titanium because everything on the planet does.
