CM7 vs Seb's de-oranged r7 side by side comparison

After feeling that the CM7 blade was lagging a lot, I was surprised by how fast seb's deoranged r7 felt in comparison. I made a small side by side vid where you can see the difference, but you can definitely feel the lack of snappiness on CM7.

CM7 Does seem to be a bit less snappy in general with menus but with a good launcher the desktop/app draw should be awesome and the processing/gaming power certainly does improve!

Disabling the overscroll effect helps - a bit.

I wonder why CM7 lags - whether it is something specific to CM7 or is common to all Gingerbread?

I can see the point you are making in that video but I have never experienced any of the lagging effects that you have noted. For me CM7 is very responsive. Using its own menus, through the settings ones you have illustrated, or by using the launcher pro. It is very very snappy and responsive.

thanks. i have overscroll bounce turned off, i will try to turn off overscroll glow - maybe that is the cause or will at least help.

i also use launcher pro with all animations off and opening speed turned to the maximum.

I am not sure if this is a valid assumption but I wonder if CM7, as with other ROM's, can be influenced in their performance regarding what the phone was before updating..?

For example my B08 phone will have a huge partial awake problem with the dialler and any of the SS ROM's. My wife uses one of those ROM's every day for a long, her phone is a B10, and the dialler doesn't even figure on the partial awakes.

We both have exactly the same apps.

Honestly there is an obvious speed difference between the two..

But luckily Launcher Pro makes the launcher as smooth as butter. The menu lag is hardly noticeable

Not worth avoiding Cyanogen just for smoother menus :)
