Guest DannyDanny Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 I know it is a nonsense to downclock when everybody is looking to overclock and produce a better performance. But the battery is also a big issue and people do complain about the cm7 battery usage. I did a day test with CM7 with maximum clock to 480mhz and it lasted much longer than I expected. about 4~5hrs longer than my average usage of 6~7 hrs. (I play with my phone very often) This probably needs longer test as the battery usage can change each day but at least I know it is much better. And It is not that laggy after all. In fact, it was little faster than my most loved Rom, Pauls modaco R12. For the benchmark, average score I get from normal 604mhz is around 750-780 downclocked 480mhz gives me 580-590 (modaco R12 was about the same or less) If you dont play games, do heavy multitasking, than maybe the world at a slower speed is not too bad after all.
Guest hugobosslives Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 strange. cost I always found overclocking makes very little difference (maybe 5% Max) as in alot of situations you can run a task overclocked (at say 769) which will take say 5 mins. and if run the same task underclocked (at say 480) it will take nearly 10 mins. so using say half the power but for twice as long (crude example I know) meh. what ever makes you like your blade better tho....

It didnt take that long for me so I thought its worth a post. It wasnt that laggy. But I doubt people would give up already slow procesor blade to be even slower :) Like you said "meh. what ever makes you like your blade better tho...."
Guest hugobosslives Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 you have a point tho. on some low end games if you keep it at 604 it makes no real difference to if you OC it to 700+ so here it would make no sense to overclock, but i cba to set up profiles for different games (as this takes ages as you can't use setcpu for doing this.... i just set it up as below in set cpu: main: 768/245 on demand screen off: 320/122 smartass charging: 604/245 smartass temp > 38C: 604/122 on demand temp > 45C: 480/122 conservative tbh i'm pretty happy with my battery life on cm7 n39. i get two days between charges. and on average i would say my use in a day is: 1 hour music, 2 hour games, 1 hour internet browsing (mixture of 3g + wifi), 30 texts, 2 calls.
