Guest XtattiK Posted April 19, 2011 Report Posted April 19, 2011 (edited) My carrier (3/vodaphone over here in Oz) is offering me an early upgrade to my phone. I don't really care too much as i tend to buy my handsets outright anyway, so the one they think they're replacing (HTC magic) is long gone, replaced by a desire (since happily rooted and currently running a gingerbread oxygen ROM, although that changes every month or so). The early upgrade offers me an HTC DesireHD or a Samsung GalaxyS for nothing on top of my plan. I realise they're clearing old stock as new models are coming through, but hey - a free phone is a free phone. I'm going to go with it for a couple of reasons: 1) it's a short term upgrade before i intend to purchase my next handset later this year (have been waiting for some long use reviews of the Sensation et al) and may allow me to hang on for one more generation. 2) I have no intention of changing carrier - have been with them for ever and have been happy with the service/cost so have no probs locking myself in for 2 more years. 3) it's going to save me $35 a month - they have a promo cap, which means no handset payments, 10 less than my current cap, as much data as i was currently paying extra for now included in the cap (enough reason alone to go with it) The question i need answered - Samsung or HTC? which one is more easily rooted? Which one is better overall? Or will I be happy with either? My last three phones have been HTC's (TytnII, magic, desire) and I've been happy with every single one of them, so am tempted to continue that path. But the samsung does get rave reviews, and the 16GB of internal memory appeals to me as it doubles my current capacity. Short version - If i can't root it, I'm not interested. Outside of that, which is the better option? Edited April 19, 2011 by XtattiK
