Guest Mushroom_Lord Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 In your stock ROM zip file... Locate the .apk that you want - it will be in /system/app/ (no idea what the keyboard apk is called, sorry) Then extract it from the ROM zip. Place the .apk on your phones SD card. Using a ROOT EXPLORER - ie. Root explorer, files geek or es file explorer Copy and paste the .apk to /sytem/app/ on your phone Now reboot your phone Go into settings - and see if you can enable "android keyboard" (or whatever it is called) If it is not listed there then just try long pressing on a text entry box and selecting android keyboard. This should work - it works with launchers.
Guest Ron=) Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 I try but didn't work any ideas? What part didn't work? What exactly did you do?

Now try long pressing a text entry box. Still no luck? check the android 2.1 keyboard apk is DEFINITELY in /system/app/ - makesure the copy didn't fail. Try rebooting again - you may need to delete the gingerbread keyboard from /system/app/ - but I don't think you should.
Guest ms20 Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 (edited) Make sure the permissions of the apk in /system/app/ are the same as the permissions of other apks (long press apk>permissions) Edited April 22, 2011 by ms20
