VPN won't connect

I have a problem connecting to VPN i tryed PPtP and l2TP/ipsec-PSK booth fail to connect

but it did not helped,

internet is up and running, I can connect through sftp to my server (same as the vpn one)

is there some generic issue with the stock 2.1 firmware?

the device is rooted

what do I have to write for logcat in the terminal to filter only vpn related stuff?

I'm new to linux.

VPN is for me realy realy realy important, please help.

Are you sure the problem is with your device and not with port forwarding, DNS and crafty firewalls?

Yes I'm quite sure, form any other device I can connect,

For the testing I used WiFi so ISP filtering wouldnt also be a problem, other devices (windows UMPC) can connect just fine.

Also using University WIFi to get into University VPN, while exactly folowing the universitiers guid for android resulted in the same problem.

Should I try to reset teh device to factory defaults?

I doubt resetting will help here :)

So, it could be your rom. Are you using PPTP? Have you tried unchecking the "Enable encryption" box?

If the server is setup for maximum compatibility then this has to be unchecked

I tryed pp2p on my server (my university alows inly l2tp/ipsec-psk), my server is set to require encryption.

Can I some how get a log output for the vpn subsystem so that it tels me at which poitn it fails?

At the moment I have a stock ROM from Yesss (austria)

You could try logcat

There are apps in the market.. Although ADB would probably give better results its a real faff to get working

Not sure if it logs VPN, you'll have to do alot of searching though too, almost every cough, sneeze and twitch is logged :)

I have hoped that i could somehow specify to logcat to log / show me only the interesting part for exampel only entries that have somethign to do with the network.

thanks to Azurren and a rom update to CM7 I got unencrypted pptp runing

but no luck with the l2tp ipsec

i attached an logcat dump mabe some expert can tell me whats wrong
