Help with installing Custom ROM (B10)

Hi all,

Just bought an Orange San Francisco today (Newbie to this)

And checked the build number which shows up at the end "...0B10"

Does anyone know if it is safe to follow the guide on OrangeSanFrancisco.co.uk for Gen1 Phones (I checked with Mr Pigfish)

Or if I can't then if anyone could kindly please point me to a friendly guide on how to do this for my phone?

EDIT: Also would the Swedish Spring RLS4 be the best and easiest to install?

Instead of going to that website do this:

1. Root with universalandroot, I had to press the "root " button twice. Google for universalandroot and install it from the Filer (Copy to SD Card)

2. Download Swedish Spring RLS4b

3. Put it on the SD card.

4. Install rom manager (its in the market) .

5. Within rom manager, flash Clockworkmod recovery.

6. In rom manager, do a backup. (Optional)

7. Again in rom manager, instal custom rom from sd card. Select clear both caches.

New to all this, have tried 8 times to install custom rom I think I must have one of the newer OSF, all attempts end with it restarting/rebooting into the basic Orange set up, last bit of dialog says install failed, have tried JJ, froyo and swedish spring RLS4b, really thought I'd done it following these instructions but unfortunately not. Like the phone a lot and would love dearly to lose all the Orange bloatware and truly explore android/custom Roms, please any help much appreciated. it's 2.1 update 1, baseband P729BB01 build number OUK P729Bv1 0.0.0B10, grey. No idea what the screen is (Lead, truly??). Have tried Orangesanfrancisco site instructions, and steveharpers excellent guide all to no avail. :)
