Mine was a choice between Blackberry or OSF it cheaper, better to customize and an all ready value for money.

All BB has going for it is bbm totally not worth it.

I was going to get a BB Curve (The Cheap One) And so many of my friends have one and they just constantly break down.

I think for most people it's gunna be a comibation of the above! But my main reason probably did come down to the epic price to spec ratio!

i got mine for all of the reasons:

1 - dev/hacker friendly - i found this forum a few days before my purchase

2 - price tag - amazing

3 - best in price limit - very interwoven with option 2

4 - oled - all the reviews said 'amazing oled screen!' - but that was only for early batches

5 - big community - closely interlinked with reason 1

==========================================

so i'm not sure which option to go for in the poll! :)

I can't choose an option from your list because all of them apply to a greater or lesser extent:

1. I wanted a new phone

2. I wanted it to be a smart phone

3. I wanted it to be Android

4. I wanted it to be cheap

5. I wanted it to be customisable

6. When searching for such a phone I found this forum

7. Paul's review (and the embedded videos) convinced me that the OSF was what I was looking for

'nuff said! This forum is directly responsible for me getting the OSF and (so far (3 months and counting)) I have no reason to complain!

Thanks MoDaCo!!

Best value for money phone on the market in my opinion.

So good in fact I've bought two of them

I bought one because of the price tag, like to have a phone i can say it's not sold here :)

I was looking for a cheap phone because I refuse to pay 50 euro's a month for 150min/texts with a new phone.. So now I got a cheap, and very good phone, and going for a sim-only deal for cheapo!

So.. Wanted android, and a new phone, wanted it not be to expensive.. And heck.. even though I'm a girl, I'm still a nerd, so customizing is fun!

i had a nokia X6 16gig, and was about to trade it in for a wildfire till cex tried to stiff me on the price, walked out and went for a coffee and remembered an article in the micromart on the OSF, so i went to argos and bought one. got home and the article had links to here

and having had a side by side comparison of the OSF and wildfire, i deffo made the right choice for my needs.

I too had no idea about the phone until i read the article in Micro Mart, and thought, hell yeah! An iPhone killer with a killer price tag, and no frikkin iTunes. Most of my workmates have iPhones, and i didn't want to be a Contract Clone, with no control over my device. So for price, and potential, yeah. Best phone out there. But it would've been a totally different story if not for Modaco and this community. You should be getting a wage from ZTE for all this work.

Thank you Micro Mart, and Modaco and currently the Cyanogen Mod Team, for keeping my phone competitive. Hell, I've even got an app that turns my Blade into an ECU reader for my car!! (Torque, awesome app). Go Blade!!

1) You guys a are a great community. Lurked here for a year now :) (Pulse forums)

2) CM7 was on it's first few nightly builds by the time I had bought mine. I think my first nightly was #2.

3) My Samsung Galaxy Spica was getting a bit too laggy.

I bought my Blade after many Nokia smartphones. I bought it for the screen size and resolution,

chance to try different ROMS and to learn about Android.

I needed a new phone because my ancient WiMo 6 phone was getting really unusable. It had to be an Android phone, for the same reasons that most here prefer Android. I learned about the Blade from a friend who had got one from the UK in december (an early adopter) and I found the price/performance ratio simply unbeatable. Especially the screen resolution of 800x480 for such a low-end price was a big bonus.

As soon as I had mine from a UK ebay seller, I put a few games on it and my wife started claiming it more and more, so we ordered a second Blade for her :-)

I could've picked a few of these. The price tag was certainly a factor - but it's the hacker friendly nature and the great community that tipped it over the edge.
