Guest kallt_kaffe Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 (edited) FeaturesChecks your Gen-version and always replaces it with a kernel compiled to work on your phone.Replaces libcm.so and libril-qc-1.so with Gen1 or Gen2 Saunalahti versions.Has the touchscreen fix by leromarinvitUses this kernel source: https://github.com/kalltkaffe/kernel_zte_bladeAHB overclocking (Use cm7_universal_converter_ahb.zip if you know your phone can handle it) Install CM7 (but stay in Clockwork, do not try to reboot just yet)Install the CM7 universal converterReboot 2011-04-26 Updated source with the commits Jacob pushed to Toms repo 2011-04-23 (UNTESTED!!!)2011-04-21 Added alternate versions using a different kernel source2011-04-?? Source: https://github.com/kalltkaffe/blade-kernel If you use these and report bugs on the official CyanogenMod project then Mr. Pigfish will eat your brain. VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION [*]Does NOT WORK WITH CLOCKWORK 3.0.2.4 due to it's small sized /tmp. Confirmed working with 3.0.1.4. [*]Although the kernel is forked from the source used for the official CM7 kernel it is NOT identical. Do NOT report issues unless they can be reproduced with the official kernel. [*]Only tested on Gen2 phone with N41 at the moment but should work on pretty much any phone (Blade) and CM7 version.EDIT: Gen1 has now been confirmed working with N41 [*]Keep in mind that recent CM7 versions + gapps does NOT fit in a 128Mb system partition anymore. If you, like me, do not have time or are to lazy to repartition, removing RomManager.apk and bootanimation.zip is enough (at least on N41) to make it fit. Edited April 26, 2011 by kallt_kaffe
Guest Michealtbh Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Thanks for this, I'm sure it'll make a lot of people happy :)
Guest kallt_kaffe Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Thanks for this, I'm sure it'll make a lot of people happy :) That assumes that it really does work for Gen1 phones. Having converted I cannot test it myself but it _should_ work...
Guest Michealtbh Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 I'll test with nightly 41 and report back
Guest hugobosslives Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 just checking: so on gen1 you can, install n41, then the above zip, then reboot and it will work?
Guest sm4tik Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Just out of interest, would you mind listing the main differences between your and Tom's kernels? Also, is there a reason why those changes haven't been pushed upstream? Anyways, thanks for another great contribution! I sincerely hope it'll calm things down a bit :)
Guest Fou-lu Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Massive Thanks, this should restore peace now everyone is compatible with CM again :)

I sincerely hope it'll calm things down a bit :) The only difference should be that my version has the touchscreen fix that helps those who have issues with unresponsive touchscreens on custom kernels. That change has been sent as a pull request to Tom and Jacob but they propably haven't hade time to implement it yet.
Guest Michealtbh Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Nightly 41 confirmed working on a gen1 Blade with the converter
Guest kallt_kaffe Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 (edited) just checking: so on gen1 you can, install n41, then the above zip, then reboot and it will work? That's the idea. But someone has to confirm that it works on Gen1 as I cannot test that myself. EDIT: Now it is confirmed in the post above this one. Edited April 20, 2011 by kallt_kaffe
Guest ThrashMan Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Will this allow me to install N25 on a GEN2 phone?
Guest bhf Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Wow seriously, what an easter egg. kallt_kaffee, you're da man. :)
Guest bagge Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 thats awesome for us gen1's, thanks kaffe.
Guest Fransis.co Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Might I humbly request this thread be pinned ? Also, a fuller description of the complete procedure would be helpful. Ta.
Guest Michealtbh Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Just thought I'd add that it worked for me using cwm 3.0.2.4
Guest ololizoz Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 So this means that I can install CM7 which is GEN2 only on a GEN1 blade, then install this and it will work? Without making it a GEN2 blade?
Guest Fou-lu Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 So this means that I can install CM7 which is GEN2 only on a GEN1 blade, then install this and it will work? Without making it a GEN2 blade? Yeah, install CM7>install converter > reboot. no need to upgrade to GEN2
Guest rwalton159 Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 (edited) Am I missing something - Does it matter which converter you download please? •cm7_universal_converter.zip MD5: F34023C93CA34BDC178A15070D1F328B •cm7_universal_converter_ahb.zip MD5: 7B02779767C26F6F29DD6DB65A0C44B1 Sorry, my error - 2nd file for overlocking Edited April 20, 2011 by rwalton159
Guest hugobosslives Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 when you say in the first post that it should work with most android versions, do you know any which you think won't work?
Guest BillBong Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 This sounds pretty awesome. Can someone please just confirm the process itself: 1) Download/flash N41 (which is Gen2) on a Gen1 phone using Clockwork 3.0.14 2) Boot into Recovery (assuming Recovery still works with N41 before the conversion) 3) Flash the Converter I just wanted to double check because I know N41 doesn't work on a Gen1 so I wasn't sure what state the phone will be in after installing N41 - ie, whether we still have access to Clockwork/Recovery Thanks
Guest bluetwthompson Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 (edited) I can confirm this works on Gen1. Procedure 1. Downloaded cm7_universal_converter_ahb.zip MD5: 7B02779767C26F6F29DD6DB65A0C44B1 2. Downloaded CM 41 3. Copy to sd card 4. Start phone in clock work recovery. 5. Apply CM 41 zip 6. Apply cm7_universal_converter_ahb.zip 7. Reboot phone. Nice one. Edited April 20, 2011 by bluetwthompson
Guest KACE_231 Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Just a few Questions: Is it the kernel that is making the primary release of N41 incompatible with GEN1 phones? What are the differences between this kernel and the one released with the official CM7 ROM's? I remember the GPS reboot issue of the CM7 ROM being fixed with the kernel edit, will the same fix still hold with this one? Could someone please answer these questions, thankyou
Guest domenico lamberti Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Yeah, install CM7>install converter > reboot. no need to upgrade to GEN2 sorry to make this uber clear to me :flash CM7 stable in Clockwork, boot up then go to ROM Manager , install the converter from there and reboot , but do i need to wipe data and cache ? im really confused and dont want to be in a boot loop
Guest Fou-lu Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 sorry to make this uber clear to me :flash CM7 stable in Clockwork, boot up then go to ROM Manager , install the converter from there and reboot , but do i need to wipe data and cache ? im really confused and dont want to be in a boot loop Do not use rom manager, just go into clockwork, wipe data / cache and install them both there, CM7 first then converter straight after, then boot up. This is pretty clear :) I can confirm this works on Gen1. Procedure 1. Downloaded cm7_universal_converter_ahb.zip MD5: 7B02779767C26F6F29DD6DB65A0C44B1 2. Downloaded CM 41 3. Copy to sd card 4.
