Guest The Sorcerer Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 (edited) As I've said before in a couple of different topics, I find the stock ringtones on the OSF/Blade to be too quiet; OK for in a quiet room but no chance of hearing them in a crowded bar or on a busy street, but I think I may have found an answer - well, it suits me anyway :) The old-fashioned dial telephones here in the UK used to have really loud bells and I found a recording of one here (scroll about halfway down and it's the "706 Telephone Bell") http://telephonesuk.co.uk/sounds.htm It's on that site in .wav form but I converted it to .mp3 and it's great, probably loud enough as it is. However, if you want it louder still, Windows XP has a utility called Sound Recorder (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment) that can increase the volume by 25% each time you use it - OK, quality begins to fall off if you do it more than a couple of times but it's high volume I need rather than quality. The only way I could find to make the handset use that file as the incoming call ringtone was to put the file in the "Music" folder then open up the Music app on the phone and a long-click on the file gave me the option to use it as the ringtone. The problem now though is that when I'm listening to music, the music app plays that file like any other piece of music in the music folder. If I delete it from the music folder, is the phone intelligent enough to have put it elsewhere and keep using it as my preferred ringtone, or if not, where else can I put it in order to use it as my ringtone but not be played by the music app? Guest Pondlife Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Hadn't actually thought about doing this myself so glad you asked. Got mine set up now. Found the answer in this thread :) ringtone Make some folders on your sd card called 'ringtones', 'notifications' and 'alarms' (without the quote marks). Put the mp3s of your desired sounds in each.

Found the answer in this thread :) ringtone I deleted the ringtone file from the music folder, created a folder called ringtones on the SD card and pasted the file in there. Then I went into Menu > Settings > Sound & Display > Phone Ringtone and my file was there as one of my choices. I don't know how it automatically picked it up but it did so thanks very much my friend - problem solved!! :) Edited April 21, 2011 by The Sorcerer
