Call button produces option to send message. Why?

When I press the call button on the screen and subsequently select a contact in the list I get a dialog where I can select to either to make a call or send a message. This is an unnecessary step because if I had wished to send a message I would have used the message app. How do I get rid of this dialog?

I've got a ZTE Blade which I after acquiring it quickly reflashed to SS RLS4b. That's Android 2.2.

You can try and replace the dialer with the aosp contact dialer. This may change the setting i do not know. Otherwise I think you might just need to change contact launcher. I don't think it would be an easy to remove setting.

I suggest the easiest to do would be too replace your contact dialler app, but the is still not guarantee that it will remove the option too message someone as well as call them.

I tend too find the GO Dev Team have the better apps according too my liking for home screens, messaging etc i think their contact app might be just as useful for you. But I don't use it so I cannot comment of if it will help you.
