Hi,

I have DJ_Steve's build (version 1.6) on my Streak updated from O2. I would like to change to official Dell Android 2.2 version but whenever I try with Fastboot it stops on Waiting for device. There is a lot of posts with similar problems, but none of solutions is working for me. Any suggestions?

Thank you

Simon

Does it say that the driver is not installed properly when you plug it in?

No. I`ve installed all drivers and *.dll files. All I have is waiting for device.

At what point are you attaching the usb cable to your device and pc? Also, have you tried different usb ports on your pc?

Tried with different ports and different computers. According to directions USB is attached after 10 or more seconds

10 or more seconds after it says Waiting for Device.

You don't say what operating system you are using.... but

I've had the same problem on Linux. I plug in my device and on the device screen it goes into fastboot mode, even using 'lsusb' command on my PC I can see device 0x413c, but when I run 'fastboot devices' nothing comes up, and if I simply try to flash something using the command

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
it hangs waiting for devices. Hence, I just use the command
fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img

which defines the device directly and does not rely on the devices list, and it seems to flash correctly.

if it's a windows box, it sounds like the drivers aren't installed correctly, it needs to be shown in the Device Manager. IIRC, it needed to be manually added, and once again, IIRC, it had to manually be chosen as a ADB device (even though obviously fastboot isn't ADB). It's been a while, and the computers I'm using to play with my Streak have been configured correctly so long that I've forgotten the specifics.

Thank you all.

I was very persistant in trying and after last attempt Streak froze. I removed the battery and after inserting it back there is no reaction any more. :-) Even USB is not recognising it. I assume that somehow I have mannaged to erase system or make it inaccessible. Is there a way to restore it at home?

If fastboot or recovery can't be invoked. The device is borked, AFAIK, those don't reside on the internal SD, rather on a small flash chip. You can try going the QDL route, although normally thats even harder to setup than fastboot.

I've got a copy of the fastboot binary for Linux from an early Android SDK, dated 2010-10-16. size 133526, with no -i option! I've downloaded the latest SDK: android-sdk_r10-linux_x86.tgz, but this doesn't contain a fastboot binary. Can someone point me at a downloadable Linux fastboot binary with the -i option! Thanks, Warren P.S adb works:
adb devices

List of devices attached

Hah, I found it here:

HTC Developer Centre

in the table about a quarter of the way down.

Thank you. I`ve tried with QDL but device is not recognised. No connection on the port.

What I have had to do was after installing the Android SDK, go into the device manager and select the android device and "update driver". Then choose the selection to choose your own drivers; not the one where the system searches for it. Then select Android device from the list and choose the ADB driver. Once that is done, it has no problem getting into Fastboot mode.

Hope this helps.

Did you try to manually update the driver following the instructions on streakdroid?
