Guest Bobby Elliott Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Most days, after using my Vega for an hour or two, and especially after it has entered sleep mode at least once, my Vega runs very slowly, requiring a reboot to get it back to full speed. Is this common? It is happening most days after I use it for a while. It most commonly happens after I have used it, put it into sleep mode, and then started to use it again. It lags badly, making it almost unusable, until I reboot it. I am running Modaco R8 with Launcher Pro and Button Savior. Is this a known issue with R8?

I think this is an issue most of us have experienced from time to time. What seems to happen is there are background processes being run after it wakes up from being asleep for a while like re-establishing wi-fi, clocksync (in my case), Google re-sync perhaps, and others which slow the Vega down for 1-2 minutes at least. I liken it to when a Windows PC starts and you log-in as a user mine takes 5+ minutes before I can use it properly because of the startup programs and shortcuts aplenty which I have. So to test it let it fall asleep again then turn on and wait a couple of minutes and see if it still lags after that. I know this is not the best solution but I have yet to find a ROM/Kernel which overcomes this inconvenience yet. :)
Guest Kevrae Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 I was having this issue also happen to me from time to time, then when I installed setcpu it seemed to be stuck at 216 until I restarted then it ran fine again. I've just flashed the new Corvus rom and it now runs superb 24/7.
Guest Panayioti Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 I found this problem after using launcher pro plus but going back to only launcher pro its runs normal.
Guest CrArC Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 I found this problem after using launcher pro plus but going back to only launcher pro its runs normal. Interesting - I had bad freezes with Launcher Pro Plus too, but I switched to VTL or whatever it is. However, I still get random freezes all the time in apps like Miren or Google mail. It doesn't seem to be limited to any one application - rather if I press a button at a specific time interval after having done something else, it can lock up fairly reliably. It's irritating as I seem to hit upon this mystery combination at least once for every ten minutes of use, which can cause a lock-up for anywhere between ten seconds and a few minutes.
Guest Bobby Elliott Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 I found this problem after using launcher pro plus but going back to only launcher pro its runs normal. Are we saying that Launcher Pro Plus causes lag after recovering from sleep mode? Or is it a ROM issue? I like Launcher Pro and would re-install it if I use a different ROM -- but not if this is the source of my lag after sleep.

I don't have Launcher Pro installed yet I still have the lag issue when I restart the Vega sometimes. I will probably be updating to the Corvus5 system shortly so hopefully the problem will go away then.

Guest CrArC Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Err... so, are we saying this is a Modaco R8 issue? No - I just switched to Corvus5 and experienced the same issue OP mentioned (having to restart to get the speed back up). This was the blank ROM except for an install of SetCPU which reported the CPU speed as being locked at 216MHz when the tablet was experiencing lag. In other words, it seemed whenever the lag was happening the tablet was not restoring its processor to full frequency. Nothing would make it go back to normal except a reboot. This has happened several times now on Corvus5 for me, but conversely I haven't had any of the hangs/lockups I had with Modaco R8 so far either.
Guest GaiusSensei Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 This is happening to me too. Very annoying.. Fresh install of Corvus5, overclocked to 1.4ghz using setCPU. When the screen timesout, the cpu gets stuck at 216mhz. I have no profiles set :) I usually restart when this happens.
Guest warriorscot Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 have you tried a fresh install of a rom with everything wiped seems for me to only happen when I flash a new Rom without wiping the old one.
Guest Bobby Elliott Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 (edited) I don't think that the problem is with the Modaco ROM. I think it's with Launcher Pro Plus -- or, more precisely, with some settings with that app. I had enabled some "experimental" settings on LP+ and, since disabling them, my Vega has been fine. So, for the record, Modaco R8 does not seem to be the cause of the lag. Nor LP+ -- if you don't mess with the settings. :) Edited April 23, 2011 by Bobby Elliott
