Guest glossywhite Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 So I bought a micro USB cable, locally, from a guy I know. I asked him how much and he scratched his head, and said "to YOU, £7" as they do, :) I get it plugged into my PC, and whaddayaknow - every time I tell Debian to mount the phones' SD card, it flashes up for 2 secs, and then unmounts. I'm so annoyed! Anyone have any ideas where I can get a decent, second micro USB cable in the high street, without re-visiting these clueless guys again (after I get my refund). The cable I purchased is made by some tacky looking brand named "AiPU" - quite apt, the PU bit - it's a piece of sh__! Thanks
Guest jamidodger1 Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 eBay? That's where I brought mine from
Guest glossywhite Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 (edited) eBay? That's where I brought mine from Stuff eBay. No offence, but I'm not waiting around for three days, for a cable I need now, to possibly have another Chinese superbrand dodgy effort delivered to my door. I emphasise again - I need it to be available in a high street shop. If anyone can recommend a brand (Nokia? BlackBerry?). Thanks. PS: I'm not sure why everyone seems to say "Look on eBay", when Amazon offer a FAR superior service, that protects you from being fleeced by fly-by-nights, as they use a payment escrow service. I know many people who have had eBay problems, but not ONE whom had problems with Amazon. :) Edited April 21, 2011 by glossywhite
Guest jamidodger1 Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Well for 99p it ain't bad on eBay! CarPhone sell a usiversal one for £12 with different ones but nooks ones are good but mostly short
Guest qkimat Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 (edited) I'm using a standard Nokia cable. It's got "type CA-101" written on a usefull plastic piece and, well, it works. It's this one. Edited April 21, 2011 by qkimat

I've seen/used those in the past, although not for my San Fran. I dislike no brand stuff... alas, I was in a rush today! Orange (online, though) have official BlackBerry microUSB cables for £5. Man, I should have done it earlier in the day. Do Tesco sell this kind of thing, in store... do you know? thanks for all the help :)
