Guest t0mm13b Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 (edited) Ok guys/gals, I am currently running CM7 nightly 41 with GEN2. I have used Kallte Kaffe's Universal converter, see here, the zip file from that linky, to extract the gen2 libs - libcm and libqc-ril-1 and pushed it across to the handset and overwrote the ones there.... So far, switched on wifi, switched on gps. Fired up Maps, it guessed my position as I was indoors, however, I moved across to the window and it got a lock on the satellite, the position became much more accurate.... So far... no reboots.... Give it a spin folks by flashing it with clockwork....poss_gps_n41_fix.zip Edited April 22, 2011 by t0mm13b

Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 didn't work for me - nightly41 on Gen2. Ran your patch and it still reboots before getting a fix.

Guest t0mm13b Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 Which universal converter are you using? The alternative one? I used this one (hecatae's thread that is stickied - titled 'How to upgrade GEN1 to GEN2, windows only, as of 16th April 2011, you need to do this to run CM7 officially')

It's not that it fixes them, they just happen less often for a while.
Guest Northern-Loop Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 Testing on my GEN2 CM7 Temp rom that Jacob posted.

Guest Northern-Loop Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 Well its been on a couple of mins and it hasnt rebooted!!! Before it was less than 1 min before it did it. Will test it further today but its looking good.
Guest k0zmic Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 (edited) Going to give this a go. Sound promising. Didn't work when I tried to open Maps. It seemed it tried to acquire the location but just couldn't then rebooted. Edited April 22, 2011 by k0zmic
Guest sm4tik Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 @t0mm13b I wouldn't want to ba a party spoiler here, but have you compared the md5sums of N41's libs and the ones you posted.. they're the same files :)

The only differences apart from the md5sum, is this, if you extract the libs from the nightly's zipfile, and do a compare by date, KK's libs seem more recent.... To finish off this experiment and write this off as a dead loss, here's my input, Handset was still stable as of now, was in a different room in the house, where the wifi signal was crap, almost zero, then activate gps, fired up maps, then the darn thing rebooted!!!!! :) Any link there, is it depending on the wifi?!
Guest targetbsp Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 Interesting. I've never had the GPS reboot whilst testing but I don't really use it and so my actual testing has always been at home in range of my wifi. An unrealistic use really because I know where my house is. :) I'll try it later with my router off. :)

I'll try it later with my router off. :( Do and see what happens, report back on this thread to keep a tab on this to see if anyone at all can shed some light on this, TomG reckons the location library is google's, and that we should be using qcom's location lib instead, and that he is using a more recent ril that never got into the nightly build....
Guest LordKickapoo Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 Didnt fix gps problem in my phone
Guest Northern-Loop Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 Yep I can confirm it still reboots on mine as well but it took half a day of using it so its better than the 5seconds I have having before.
Guest targetbsp Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 I played for several minutes with no wifi and couldn't cause a reboot. I did manage to wreck the maps app at one point and had to reboot it myself though! Not sure how I managed that. One thing I should point out is I am using N35 and I only commented cause I assume this is the same ongoing GPS issue. If it's a new to N41 thing then well... I'm not being helpful here. :)
Guest Shadow_2k Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 I get reboots regardless of wifi being enabled or not. (N41)
