Trackball unlock option

Hi all,

I know this has been discussed a lot over at XDA, but there still doesn't seem to be a solution (from what I've found) except from using CyanogenMod ROMs (and still even unsure about that).

I cooked up a ROM in the kitchen, and I included the option for trackball wake, but I wish there was a trackball unlock so that I could just double tap it and I'm brought to the home screen (I had this option by double tapping the menu button on my old Hero).

I'm currently using Widget Locker, which is OK, but I can't double tap to unlock. You've to wait till the screen wakes before you can then hit to unlock, and sometimes that doesn't even work, you've to try again.

Also, I've read the Desire used to have the double menu tap option to unlock on Eclair, but I got my Desire with FroYo. Just wish there was a quick unlock option.

Hope ye can shed some light, and possibly figure out a fix :)

You either have to edit the HTCLockscreen.apk or find one for your version that has the edited configuration.

You'll have to find it yourself though because I wasn't able to find one for my version (there are different versions out there). You'll experience bootloops if you use the wrong one.

I might be able to help you. I develop my own ROM's now and still learning more as its never ending as we all know. Go over to XDA and look there for an alternative which will hopefully help you. Here is the XDA link Track-Ball Wake (With Power Enabled)

If you download the zip file to your computer and dump it onto your SD card not in a folder. Go into Recovery on your phone, and then flash the "Track-Ball Wake (With Power Enabled) zip" file. Wait until it's done and then reboot phone and then you will have what you want.

This works flawlessly and many have recommended this to others and works for them too. Try searching all over the internet as well as in forums in here. Everyone is here to help each other as thats how I see it. Use google search a lot as it will help in what you might find and learn in the future.

Try this at XDA for "Trackball Unlock" Track-Ball Unlock. I have not tried this one but it may be what you are looking for.

The best thing you can do is READ READ READ, and ask if you are not sure as that how we all learn.

Believe me, I've looked! As I said in my original post, I have the trackball wake option from the kitchen here, and I'd found that post over at XDA. I even found the other one you linked about trackball unlock, but that's only if you're running CyanogenMod. I mean if it works on CyanogenMod, I see no reason why it couldn't be ported onto a flashable zip, but my experience in that kind of thing is zero! I was just thinking theoretically it should be possible...
