did factory reset by mistake to a rooted desire

Hi all,

new to this so i give it by best to explain why i am posting.

I have never rooted a phone before so i am new to this.

I (sorta, obliviously ) understand the concept of how computers/phones work in general.

I very recently bought a used desire it came rooted with LeeDroid v2.3d..

Phone worked fine, actually I was impressed with its speed and ease of use.

I did a factory reset my mistake.

During factory reset it froze , so i removed battery.

When i powered on it came to stop on a black screen with android lettering logo.

Phone was initially branded with vodaphone uk.

8gb sd card has about 30 folders and 7 files on it (1.21gb).

I was sent a cd when i bought the phone with both LeeDroid v2.3d. and Official HTC_ Froyo v2.2 software. CD has other files and folders of desire programs ,software etc.

I can get into the control console (android system recovery).

I have reinstalled LeeDroid v2.3d via sd card (FLASH ZIP FROM SD CARD option) and , it only runs for a the initial booting sequence and lee droid screen then it loops the sequence over and over.

Same results when i installed the Froyo v2.2 operating system.

I tried to install the factory vodaphone rom via FLASH ZIP FROM SD CARD option. it (i think ) installs the rom. It extracts image in system recovery ,when i reboot to complete install of rom it Brings UP IMAGE OF BOX WITH ARROW AND A GREEN ANDROID, then it reboots again to system recovery screen showing at bottom of screen

It hangs here for 15minutes , so i remove battery .

WHEN i power it on it goes to white htc screen and simply brilliant scrolls under htc symbol and it loops over and over again.

Q. Should i have wiped , deleted files, folders,systems or roms before I install new roms or operating systems etc. ( i am not sure of procedure)

I think i will cease any further with it and get advise before i brick it.

I would like to reinstall the lee droid system back onto phone.

How do i do it , any help appreciated.

You have to wipe the phone first and then flash a new rom.

You'll have to wait before flashing because it can take a few minutes for the phone to start when you first flash it.

should i "wipe all userdata" option

Did a full wipe and

it rebooted to android 2.2. RADIO 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27

All is working thanks.

Although i thought i would have to reinstall the ROM and operating system after a full wipe.

It did wipe some of the apps so do a wipe again and then reinstall the rom to get everything like it should be.

tried that a few times, not wiping, had to remove SD card and delete files and apps via PC.
