Guest Bobby Elliott Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 I picked up the Brasso gadget cleaner kit in Sainsbury's yesterday. It's not cheap at £4.99 but boy does it clean the screen. I reckon it will last a while and it comes with a high quality cleaning cloth so it's not bad value for money. I've tried a few things for cleaning the Vega screen but nothing comes close to this. Just passing it on... :)
Guest RedSlug Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Thanks! I saw this in tesco, but the price put me off. I'll try it now :)

I'll try it now :) I picked it up and put it back down because of the price but I went back and bought it. Money well spent. You only use a couple of drops at a time and this will do several cleans so it should last a few months. It also makes the screen anti smeer and makes the device nicer to use. I find the Vega screen gets filthy very quickly and is difficult to clean.

Guest Minimonkey Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 Just got some, cleans the screen well and the cloth is very good. Still going to use rainx on it after as the fingers glide better.
Guest Gavjbrown Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 Thanks, just got some on Ebay for 3.50 delivered.
Guest Qwirtle Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 Just bumped this, as I have also found a product which cleans the screen very well: Rain-X. You can find this at Halfords, or some branches of Asda. For about £6.99, I got a bottle, used one of those buffing cloths and cleaned my screen. Result: my screen was beautifully smudge-free, and even better, had a slick coating on the surface which really made my finger 'zip' smoothly across. I also tried it on my ipod as well. Works well on glass, but do NOT try on plastic screen protectors etc!! I was extremely worried about what it would do to my screen, but so far, it looks pretty slick.

You do realise the the Vega's screen is plastic covered and not glasss, form what I understand..? My wife has just bought a bottle of RainX but I'm unsure now on whether I should use it or not.

The benefits of rain x was mentioned some months ago on a seperate thread and even a couple of posts above this, so I would say we would have known by now if it melted screens, also I am pretty certain the vega screen is glass as some members have tried to replace them Edited June 26, 2011 by premieral

Guest dibbles Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 (edited) I am not sure as to its long term use though as, although this is going back a long time, I do remember using a glass cleaner on my motorbike plastic visor and for a while it looked great. Over time though it seemed to get a permanent mist on it. However there are many cleaners and plastics on the market so who knows. In another thread... http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1743105 ...I posted a couple of links that note the Vega has having a plastic screen and not glass. When I have seen photos posted of some Vega's with broken screens it does give the impression of being glass. Reading the back of the bottle of Rain-X they do state that it is not to be used on plastics or anything with a coating on. They also sell a different one which can be used on plastics. Whether using the above would have any long term detriment beyond the life of the Vega I would not know. I have also bought a microfibre cloth so, for now, we can just use that on our Vega's. Guest Bobby Elliott Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 The Brasso Gadgetcleaner is completely safe to use. It is designed for cleaning modern gadgets, such as tablets and smartphones. I've been using it for several weeks and it does a great job.

I have just used it for the first time and the screen looks very clean and smear free. By the way, the pricing label said it had been reduced from £9.99.
