San Fransisco - black screen on start up. Solution?

I bought a new orange San Fransisco about a month ago . I unlocked it and I have been successfully using android 2.2(can't remember exact name) and a giffgaff sim.

However now when I turn on the phone all I get is a black screen. I do not think it is the battery because it makes a buzzing sound when I push some buttons and I have also been able to receive a phone call despite me having the black screen (answered the phone by rubbing my finger around a blank screen)

I fear I can't go back to Orange because the modifications I have made and I am not sure how to reset the phone if I cannot see what I am doing.

Any ideas on a solution?

You can try to put back on the stock rom, with the TPT method (I think there is an image of it around here) and then take it back to Orange, however re-locking it back to Orange network will be a challenge. Maybe they won't even check if its locked or not.

Have you took the battery out and switched it back on it happened to me the other week after putting a new rom on it but it only did it one time it’s ok now?
