recovery app

What does the recovery icon on the apps screen do. My son pressed it and I have had to reload vega v1.09 and r8 to get things working again. Can this icon be removed from the apps screen as it is far too easily pressed accidentally. Thanks

Pressing the recovery icon just reboots the tablet and instead of booting Android it will boot to clockworkmod if you have that installed. So you can make backups or install other roms. If you dont have clockworkmod installed. when it reboots you can get a black screen or a picture of the android mascot. Holding the power button down to turn it off. and then turning it back on again will boot back into android. You shouldn't have to reload anything. If you don't plan on ever using the app. I think you can remove it through settings > Application > Manage applications. I wouldn't do it personally as its a very useful tool.
