Guest Morris Lee Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Is it possible? I know for a fact that the samesung focus uses QSD8250 aswell, and it runs Windows Phone 7 beautifully. HTC HD2 was able to get a home cooked version. Ideas? progress? anyone?
Guest bais Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Well, all the actual WP7 devices are using the same Snapdragon processor as the Liquid. But I don't think you'll see such a thing on Liquid. First, if you manage to port it, you'll have a very...unusable device, most of the phone features won't work. Second I think Liquid users like Android and don't want to change the OS. The HD2 got a WP7 port, but even though it has a great Android port, it is a WM 6.5 device, so there were users and devs who were interested by the port. And it's hardware was close to the WP7 HTC devices.
Guest HustlinDaily Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 I am in the boat of zero interest but isn't the hardware on Liquid the same only for an underclocked processor and half the RAM (tho RAM shouldn't be too important as WP7 doesn't have multitasking).

Guest TroutT20 Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 After taking a browse through the SDK's and Hardware I think it is more than possible. The problem really is the justification for the time needed to make it work. Most of our current ROMs are based off existing kernals and software, modified for performance and use off the ACER. In this case we have nothing to relate or pull from and would be building it from the ground up. While it may be possible to bring some of the info across from the NeoTouch, its all built off an older version. Besides the UI is there anything else you wanted it for? In this case it would be easier to create a custom windows UI for Android than it would to put WP7 on Liquid. Android 2.3.3 at the point is light years ahead of WP7 as it stands.
Guest devoluti0n Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 If you really like the windows phone 7 launcher, you know you have many copy of it for andoid, and for free on the market. Check it, you might have what you want. Or maybe it was just a simple question. So I can say it's certainly possible. However, it won't be an easy task.

I know how to program in, c# so I thought it would be nice
Guest TroutT20 Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I know how to program in, c# so I thought it would be nice You are going to need more then that for the kernal. I would suggest using a current kernal such as choco tree and high jacking the UI from WP7. You could create something much better with a ton more functionality. You could make it more than just a launcher. It could not only be more effecient, but you could add a ton of features missing from WP7 that already exist in Android 2.3.3
Guest koudelka Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I know how to program in, c# so I thought it would be nice then this might be interesting for you http://www.koushikdutta.com/search/label/Mono or the professional port by novell http://mono-android.net/
Guest Morris Lee Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I know mono, but never thought it was ported to android, haha, awesome find, thanks!!
