wlan speed problem, multiple roms

I own a Gen1 TFT Blade obtained from finnish operator Saunalahti. With the stock 2.1 rom, with Japanese Jellyfish as well as FLB RLS8a, the WLAN speeds used to be fine, however at some point I noticed they took a major hit, for example (on the same WLAN AP):

iPad: 12.90 down / 2.50 up

Blade: 0.98 down / 0.96 up (Blade used to do 6+ mbit down via this same AP previously)

This is reproducible across multiple WLAN APs I have access to in various places, no matter what I do, I cannot get neither the download, nor the upload speed above 1mbit, even when it absolutely is possible and is easily obtained by other devices. At first I thought this was a ROM issue, so I:

Updated from FLB R8a to the very latest FLB -> No effect

Fully wiped the FLB install -> No effect

Updated to Gen2 and CM 7.0.2 with a full wipe -> No effect

On a sidenote: upgrading to Gen2/CM7, I am not seeing HSUPA, upload via 3G data gets capped at ~380kbit, same SIM card in another phone easily does 800+ kbit upload.

Is this a hardware problem of some sort? Has anyone else run into thos?
