I wanted to upgrade gen1 to gen2. So i found this: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-only-flashing/

I've done excatly how it says on the guide, but now i think i've bricked my device. After the flash was completed i rebooted the recovery as it was told. Then i flashed the SS RLS4, which installed successfully. Now when i try rebooting my device it boots to recovery... I mean ONLY to recovery. It won't start anyhow. I've tried reflashing the stock recovery, tried different partition and always the same. I've done system/cache wipe... nothing. Please help ! Or tell me the sad truth of bricking my phone, if needed

EDIT: This morning i tried restoring my device from CWM backups, it did'nt help. Once again it said "Install successful" but won't boot properly

Try wiping data and then flashing Swedish Spring...

repeat rebooting into recovery indicates a corrupt channel1.nvm, you need to restore your channel1.nvm, did you make a back up?

I downgraded to gen1 to get TPT back and mess up IME and this happened to me a few times, but after reflashing stock recovery on sd card to give ftm and use windows flasher it sorted out(not sure how ?)

Unfortunately I did not backup channel1

Is there no other way to restore IME number

If not, what negetive effects will I have to live with if any ?

maybe this

you will have to hex edit it back, burstlam has wrote good guides on how to do this.

thanks for quick reply.

yes,was looking at something like this on XDA.

Are there any real downsides to having changed IME,except the obvious illegal implications.

For example will I have data problems ?

edit: tried using ZTE tool, however it says waiting,I type my official IME into meid box and it only allows 14 digits leaving the last one out ?

Then i push write meid and nothing happens.

I am in FTM,windows has made a sound on connecting device, device manager confirms ZTE diognostics on com 22,but it do nothing ?

your network could bar your sim if anyone else has the same test imei on your mobile network.

Is the IMEI not written inside the Blade (look after removing back cover) or on the box? Copy that.

i have original IME,but where would I copy it too ? Tried ZTE tool but no luck there.

I have an old clockwork backup from before I screwed IME,I wonder If somehow flashing that backup could restore IME,or maybe some sytem files could be used from that backup to overwrite ones in current system ?

Do you have the ORIGINAL IMEI within the channel1.nvm file when you first did your Windows conversion to GEN 2....?

I strongly suspect that all IMEIs reset to 0000 etc are actually reset to the same value

Someone (not naming names to prevent IMEI fraud etc) posted their b0rked one on here and it was the same as mine was when b0rked. Another poster gave four digits of theirs which also matched

If that is the case then there are a probably quite a few blade owners having done this but not managed to restore their original IMEIs, who now share exactly the same IMEI!

In defence of the people struggling to reset their IMEIs, I was just looking over the instructions again and (with no disrespect to those who have given of their time to document what they've done) I have to say they are a bit of a nightmare, with lots of linking between threads which describe subtly different processes

Does anyone with a more comprehensive understanding of it than I have feel up to doing a clearer idiot proof guide? (without linking between different threads)

when my IMEI was b0rked it ended in xxxxxxxxxx2710. Now I have followed a path to restore it, a little convoluted, it is now fine.

Is your IMEI not correct and if so do you also have the channel1.nvm file created when doing a Windows flash...? I know that I didn't keep mine but I was still able to get back to a GEN 1 with my original IMEI, eventually.

I can try to write a better guide to switch back to GEN1 from GEN2 Windows flasher but I didn't use the same method than burstlam (but use his program, the second one). Mine is a little more longer but it will not use HEX edit. (also you must have correct IMEI when you are on GEN2..)

The main idea is to start from GEN 2 converted phone (with Windows flasher), backup NV then back to GEN1 with wrong IMEI then restore the NV. Simple but some flashings needed.

(I really don't know what's so hard in this guide here?)

So, tell me if it's needed I can do that.

+1 just what I was hoping for,the instructions are to complicated for the likes of me

on XDA there is a way to restore IME with root explorer, not sure if it will work on all devices

I didn't make backup at this time cause i knew i had a working backup of the Swedish Spring. So this morning i restored that backup and its still the same. Not booting.

And I have also a new problem... my phone won't boot even to recovery anymore... just the green android screen.

@jikobutsu : when you flash again to GEN2 with Windows flasher, do you have correct IMEI ?

(Your guide on XDA doesn't work for the Blade anyway.

@mikeeo19 : what's happen if you press "Volume -" button ?

I lost IME downgrading to gen1 to get the TPT back.

Then TPT back to gen2.Are you saying I could run windows flasher again and it may restore IME ?

Was not sure about the XDA guide, just thought it could be a way forward to an easier way maybe

You have apply TPT method with your broken IMEI ?

I suppose you can try to flash again with Windows flasher and you original channel1.nvm, but I'm not sure... (do you have your original channel1.nvm anyway ?)

Like I say before, the easiest way (at least for me) was to flash to GEN2 with my correct channel1.nvm, and I've correct IMEI. Then, I do a backup of this IMEI with the brustlam program. Flash again to GEN1 with broken IMEI and simply restore the IMEI with burstlam program again. All that with Windows.

Really sorry for you. Try to contact some good guys like wbaw or hecatae or kallt_kaffe, maybe they can help you ... (don't know if you can try TPT method or fastboot mode ? Don't want to say bulls*its)

I see. But my problem now is that when i connect my device to my computer, it only finds "Android device" nothing about Blade. An

d it's unavailable to install the drivers.
