Overclocking the Vega

Has anyone managed to do this?

I can install the software, but it wont let me go above 1ghz or change the scaling field.

Is this down to kernal limitations (as I've read somewhere) or something else..? (me).

You have to be using a ROM that supports it such as Corvus5

Ahah, ok, thanks guys I'll give it a go tonight:)

What stops overclocking on the MoDaCo rom? It would be awesome to be able to keep it and overclock, as I rather like it.

I installed the No-Frills CPU Control app which works fine with me running Corvus5 rom.

does the cpucontrol app allow you to underclock as well Phil? and/or set different profiles because that would be good

CM7 also allows you to overclock, and now has full hardware acceleration too so it is no worse off than using a 2.2 based rom

I believe the Kernel has to support overclocking, and I don't think Modaco R8 does.

The main ROMs such as Corvus and as Lenny says, CM7 support it..

And for example, on Corvus, you need to drop the setCPU.txt file on the root of your SD Card, and install the setCPU app (Free if you join XDA-developer forums), then just run setCPU, and as mentioned, in the intial setup screen, the last choice in 'your device' is to manually set the device, which will then ask if you want to use the setCPU.txt, and off you go...

yes I am, I was on it before Corvus5 release, then went to Corvus5 but missed the "tablet tweaks" that cm7 has, now CM7 has everything fully working I had no reason not to switch back, rom flys and the extras it gives you are great IMO.
