Guest eMarcus Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 Hi, Just bought a new San Francisco in Switzerland hoping to be futureproof with CyongenMod by getting a GEN2 device. But it turns out to be again a GEN1 model. I am just wondering that CyanogenMod stops supporting GEN1 models as they are still on sale and therefore widely spread (and will continue to be spread). Or did I just have bad luck and got one of the last GEN1 models? bye Marcus.

It's nothing to do with any suggestion that only gen 2 phones are being sold. It's the fact that a gen 1 can be safely upgraded to a gen 2 whereas a gen 2 (bought that way) cannot be downgraded to a gen 1. So it makes sense to support gen 2 only and get the gen 1's upgraded.

Guest simonsays1 Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 Nothing wrong with either a Gen1 or Gen2 Blade. It's very easy to upgrade to Gen2.

I am just concerned about upgrading to GEN2 as a few people seemed to have bricked their Blade when they tried to upgrade it to GEN2...

Not sure where the term "upgrade" came from. The evidence concerning any radio "improvement" is still largely anecdotal. Just so nobody runs away with the idea that "changing" to Gen 2 is an absolute necessity outside of Beta testing CM7.
