Upgrade due - wishlist!

I'm into my upgrade period on my current contract (HTC Hero on Orange), and the contract will be finished in a few months. Starting to look around for my next upgrade, and want something that will last me for the next 2 years! I'd like to stay on Orange, but their current crop of Android phones doesn't do much for me. I figure to keep it future proofed as possible I'll want:

• dual core
  
• NFC chip
  
• rootable, and plenty of ROM development
  

Any suggestions of a good phone to aim for?

I'd like to stick with Orange if possible as they always give me a good deal, and their insurance is great (recently dunked the Hero in water on a Sunday. Called them at 4pm and had a new phone and battery by 11am the next day), however I could be persuaded to go elsewhere if the deal was right.
