Guest Shahmatt Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 Hi guys, I have a question about the deskclock on the SS RLS5 ROM. I installed the add-on provided in the thread. My problem is that I can't seem to change the default notification sound within the app. Right now in order to access the notification sounds I must add a new alarm and then select the ringtone or go with the default ringtone (which is a very awful rooster crowing). I cannot set a new notification sound as the default for all alarms. I have searched everywhere I can think of for this setting. Does anyone have an idea?
Guest Shahmatt Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Does anyone have any suggestion for this?

Hi Shahmatt, I am not sure you can change the default Ringtone for alarms. To add a custom Ringtone you simply create a folder called "alarms" on your SD card and put your Ringtone of choice in there, but I think you know that. One thing I have to ask is, why do you want to do this? To set an alarm you have to manually set it up and in that dialog window there is the option to select a Ringtone, this all takes 15 seconds. Do you set up that many alarms that often that this would be really helpful to you? I am genuinely interested and mean no disrespect, or imply any sarcasm. Anil. PS. I use my Blade as an alarm clock, and I too hate the rooster instead I use the wonderful xylophone Ringtone from my old NOKIA 5800. Edited May 3, 2011 by Anil k Solanki

As a work around, you can overwrite the rooster sound with your preferred sound file, ie. keep the rooster's name, use a different file.

It's a pity that the default ringtone can't be changed. And yes, I do use the feature often and find it useful. Sometimes for an afternoon nap in my office or as a simple short term reminder. On my old Nokia E51 I simply typed in the time for the "quick alarm", set it, and forgot about it. It was very convenient. @ sm4tik The workaround by renaming the file is definitely the simplest solution I suppose - though unfortunately an inelegant one. Many thanks for the help! Guest Anil k Solanki Posted May 5, 2011 Report Posted May 5, 2011 (edited) Hi Shahmatt, I can see why setting the default would be useful for you. Another option would be to create a new alarm, change the label to "Quick Nap", set the repeat to never, and choose your alarm sound of choice. This alarm will be saved, play once and won't repeat. The next time you fancy a quick nap simply alter the time for the "Quick Nap" alarm, and your other settings will be as you like them. No more rooster! In fact I have done the very same thing, but what would be über cool, would be to simply select a duration instead of an alarm time, say 30 mins instead of putting in the time. I hope this helps. Regards, Anil. UPDATE------------------------------ Hi, I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but after my thought on it would be über if I could set a duration and not an alarm time, it dawned on me. That is what a timer does! A quick trip to the ANDROID market and I found a timer app with a really great User Interface. https://market.android.com/details?id=mobi....re=related_apps So simple to use and you can save timers for future use, with custom ringtones, price? Free! Go ANDROID. I hope this helps. Anil. Edited May 5, 2011 by Anil k Solanki
