Problem installing Drivers on XP

Hi Guys

I'm in need of a bit of help! I read so many posts about installing the R8 I thought it would be a breeze "silly me". I decided to use my old XP laptop rather than my windows 7 as I had printed the How To USB Drivers for Vega On Windows XP.

I had not connected the Vega to this PC before, I ignored the part in the procedure about flashing a stock ROM and went straight to installing MCR, I put the Vega into usb debugging, opened the device manager and attached the Vega and this is where it all went a bit Pete Tong, as soon as I attached the Vega windows went in to I know best mode and started loading or trying to load drivers for a USB device, harmony and I believe some sort of disk drive, sorry I cant be more specific at this time.

I tried to uninstall these devices but once I removed them I went on to add hardware and this started windows looking and installing drivers, I removed these once again dut the Found New Hardware Wizard shows a USB Drive but nothing Android ADB or Bridge, if I click on have Disk the computer says somthing like your driver (android winusb.inf) is not suitable for this type of device. this where I am now so I thought I would ask the question of the Vega Guru's, any help you can give me will be much appeciated.

You may find these instructions helpful, although they are for Vista, I've managed to follow them for XP.

Thanks for your reply but unfortunatley the link does not work for some reason, Ive been playing this afternoon and its really wierd, every time I connect the Vega in debugging mode windows installs drivers for a generic volume a Nvidea Harmony device, mass storage device, Nvidia Tegra 2 USB device and I cant stop it Heeeeelp

I've got it working and all is well, what I did in the end was to connect the vega and ignored all the drivers being installed then I watched the U Tube guide to installing R6 and instead of un-installing the USB driver I went to the Nvidea Harmony listed in "other Devices" right clicked it and updated the driver then all appeared to go ok and I ended up with Android Phone in the listing, ran the windows install.bat and fingers crossed watched all these devices installing five minutes later we have a good re boot, installed the flash player, very happy bunny now.

It worked a charm! There was one moment when I thought the computer was winning when I was told to Add New Hardware and the computer kept adding the USB Mass storage device driver on its own, but perseverance paid off and I now have r8 running on my Vega. Next step Corvus5 :mellow:

Great Stuff, why do you want Corvus 5? is it much different, what are the advantages if any.

Now we have the USB drivers in place do you think that we can install other roms more easily.
