Guest Cheetah05 Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 I have a GEN1 device running SS RL5 and I'm having issues with the WIFI being dodgy. It is my understanding that the wifi is dodgy when the phone goes to sleep, so is there a way to prevent the phone from sleeping? The reason it is an issue is that I have dodgy signal where I am so need the Wifi to receive whatsapp messages. Thanks.

My first advice was to set screen timeout to 30 minutes, on mine thats the max using same ROM. My Wifi isnt dodgy however but I did wipe and clear chache before installing, I dont know if you did? I looked up 'prevent sleep' on android market and couldnt find anything to fit description. The Flashlight app https://market.android.com/details?id=com.a...e=search_result which came with the ROM will prevent it from sleeping, however it will kill your battery life as well. Sorry I cant offer any more advice. But Im sure someone will know a way to do longer than 30 minutes or without draining battery too much.

It can be set to toggle with Wifi so that it only keeps your device awake while wifi is active. Completely solves the Wifi sleep policy issue  And also fixes the re-connect issue as it doesn't have to re-connect (Never lost the connection in the first place) Very useful for running apps such as: FTP, Web servers, Webcam etc. And for people who don't have a data tariff Edited May 2, 2011 by Azurren
Guest KACE_231 Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 What is your wifi sleep policy? This doesnt do anything for my blade, i am running CM7 n57 as well
Guest Cheetah05 Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 What is your wifi sleep policy? settings-wireless&networks-wifi settings-(Menu button)-(advanced)-wifi sleep policy to never Checked at it is already set to "Never". Bare in mind, I am just assuming its an issue with sleeping. It happens when I press the power button on the top to lock the screen. When I unlock it, wifi goes off/is off and comes back on (someone told me this was something todo with a Wifi fix workaround)...then I get a load of messages come through. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I did a wipe and clear I think....this is done in the Clockwork mod recovery screen IIRC....unless I have done something different? Thanks for your suggestions.
