I have the custom rom for 2 days now and i cant say for sure, but i think that this custom rom consumps the battery 3 times faster than the original 2.1 stock rom i had at the beggining.

Is there anything on this issue or we must live with it?

Disabling background data in Accounts and Sync worked for quite a few people.

My normal day hasn't changed overall but I have noticed that when I get back from work my battery percentages have increased. Under CM7.0.2 I have 75-80% remaining whereas on JJRLS4 (edit: and swedish spring) I had 65-75% remaining. A small but tangible improvement.

Of course it is all anecdotal as I don't know what settings changed between the two ROMs, maybe I am just getting less frequent syncs or something.

Gingerbread is supposed to have a more aggressive internal task killer so it'll kill apps more quickly which may explain your better battery life.

There appear to be several bugs in CM7_Blade that cause high battery drain once triggered. 1% drain per hour in idle (the drain normal for other ROMs as well, several days battery life) is possible in CM7 but certain actions cause the idle drain to go up to 3% and higher (= only one day battery life). Investigating and fixing this will take time as it's a bit complex.

there's an open bug about it, basically the phone just doesn't sleep...

As I said, there's multiple issues. You can also get the phone into a high drain state *with* it sleeping.

One of the main things that i have noticed is when you speak, battery drains a lot faster than in the original rom.I wish these issues will be the point of interest at the next releases because battery levels is one( if not the first) of the most important things in a phone.

I've got really bad battery life on the CM7, with the power going from 100% to 0% in about 10 hours, with 1 hour of use... Battery Use said about 40% went to the screen and almost as much drain was caused by WiFi. I now set my Wifi off when not in use and always dim the screen when I don't need the brightness (liked it on 80-100% in the past). Now the battery lasts much longer, and I don't have to recharge every time I come from school.

Does my problem sound like I've got the insomnia bug? (see what I did there? :o)

I have had the same problem but found that running task killer before I send it to sleep has improved the battery life considerably. Don't understand exactly what is happening but that's all I have done to improve the battery life.

For me it is the 3g that is killing the battery. Previously on CM I have been getting about 8 hours, this was with leaving 3g on all the time.

2 days ago I downloaded tasker, which lets you do many useful things which I am still learning about.

I have set tasker to switch on "Mobile Data" for 5 minutes every hour between 6:30am and 10:30pm (off overnight) and also to switch "Mobile Data" on when the screen is switched on, and to swith "Mobile Data" off when the screen is off.

I am now getting at least 36 hours which is the best I have got out of any blade rom. This is not perfect but checking my emails once an hour is ok for me.

I just have to look at the battery use graph to see when the "Mobile Data" is kicking in for 5 minutes I see a short downward spike in what is now almost a horizontal line.

Do any other apps exist that offer the same level of control over when "Mobile Data" is on? If not I will end up purchasing Tasker (which is available on a time limited demo).

Alternatively, Toggle2G is a handy app which disables 3G when the screen is off. My battery life has improved a great deal since I started using this app. You can find the apk for this app on XDA.

Just realized I can see the amount of sleep my phone gets with Spare Parts. Yeah, it's got insomnia, time without sleeping is 100%. Turning off screen lighting and wifi help, but it's a bit annoying, having to switch them on/off all the time...

Is there going to be a fix in CM7.1? Any idea when the new version will be available?
